If you've got a Nokia phone and a computer, then you really can't afford to be without the Nokia Ovi Suite. This collection of tools, formerly known as Nokia Suite, allows you to sync your phone with windows in order to get more from your device. Nokia Suite is much more than just a file transfer solution, and it adds a number of genuinely useful functions for improving your mobile experience.

Nokia Ovi Suite is very simple to install, thanks to a helpful, step-by-step wizard that guides you through the process of hooking your phone up. The main menu consists of a series of bright, bold icons offering a gateway to some cool features. The functions you'll probably use most are the backup and restore and file transfer tools, which run quickly and without fuss.

But the additional features of Nokia Ovi Suite are what really make it stand out. For instance, you can synchronize your phone and PC calendars, install apps onto your phone, access mail, maps, images, contacts and more. Everything can be done either via Bluetooth or USB cable.

Providing your device is compatible with the software, Nokia Ovi Suite is an essential tool for managing your phone.

Download Nokia Ovi Suite 3.8 in Softonic

BlackBerry Desktop Manager 7.1.0 B39

BlackBerry Desktop Manager allows you to sync your BlackBerry with your Windows computer effortlessly, giving you the ability to back up and share files without hassle.

What does BlackBerry Desktop Manager do?

The software allows you to install new applications, as well as synchronize contacts, tasks and messages between device and PC. There's also a 'Media' section in BlackBerry Desktop Manager for copying photos, video and audio; plus a Backup & Restore tool for managing the backup of your BlackBerry's data.

You can also use BlackBerry Desktop Manager to play around with your email settings. You can choose to forward incoming messages to your device, apply filters, and change your signature for outgoing emails.

Is it easy to use?

It's worth noting that the user interface within the BlackBerry Desktop Manager makes all these jobs really easy to perform. It's just a case of clicking on the right icon and following the steps in the wizard-style GUI. The only settings you really need to worry about in BlackBerry Desktop Manager are the connection and data folder options, which are pretty straightforward anyway.

The main downside to BlackBerry Desktop Manager is that it's a bit of a beast. The download is over 100Mb and the installation takes an age, but it's worth the wait. We also found the process of configuring a Bluetooth connection through Desktop Manager to be very awkward and long-winded.

If you want to backup, synchronize and share data with your device, BlackBerry Desktop Manager is the answer. It's also great for installing BlackBerry apps you download from Softonic!

Download BlackBerry Desktop Manager 7.1.0 B39 in Softonic

MyPhoneExplorer 1.8.4

MyPhoneExplorer allows you to monitor your Sony Ericsson or Android phone from your home computer.

A connection with MyPhoneExplorer is established very quickly, and the package detects the device either via USB cable, Bluetooth or Wifi. The installarion process varies a little depending on the device, so check out the instructions on the MyPhoneExplorer website. the Once you've synced, you can pretty much access everything on your PC. Perhaps one of the main uses for it is to co-ordinate your contacts. This is made very simple through MyPhoneExplorer and you simply need to click the 'Phone' or 'SIM' option under the 'Contacts' tab.

Likewise, MyPhoneExplorer gives you direct sync to <taglink type="program" country="en" id="125146">Outlook</taglink>, Outlook Express, Lotus Notes and <taglink type="program" country="en" id="40810">Thunderbird</taglink>.

The interface is very clearly laid out and displays all the information from your phone in a format that's much easier to read than on the device itself. For instance, you can access and manage your organizer, alarms, messages and phone settings, viewing everything in large format. What's more, because it has its own caching system, the transfer of files from phone to PC, and vice versa, is very quick indeed.

In terms of presentation and performance, MyPhoneExplorer can't be faulted. In fact, the only niggly thing about the program is the fact that it installs an eBay toolbar in your browser by default (it's easy to skip this step though).

If you use a Sony Ericsson or Android phone and need to sync it with your PC, MyPhoneExplorer presents probably the best platform for doing so.

Download MyPhoneExplorer 1.8.4 in Softonic

If you're not satisfied with the Bluetooth detector on your PC then try BluetoothView which simplifies connecting to Bluetooth devices.

BluetoothView is a small utility that runs in the background and monitors the activity of Bluetooth devices around you. For each detected Bluetooth device, it displays the Device Name, Bluetooth Address, Major Device Type, Minor Device Type, First Detection Time, Last Detection Time and other minor details. The program works very discreetly and only notifies you in the taskbar with a popup when it has discovered a new device. However, if you don't want the balloon in your taskbar, you can always instruct it to use a beep sound instead. To be honest, unless your bluetooth detector on your PC is really poor you don't really need this utility but then again, if you constantly work between Bluetooth devices, then you'll find it a much better way to find and connect than manually searching for them.

If you're a heavy Bluetooth user, then you'll find that BluetoothView makes life easier in finding the devices you need to connect to.

Download BluetoothView 1.65 in Softonic

LG PC Suite software is a one-stop shop for managing everything on your LG <a href="http://en.softonic.com/phones/os-android"target="_blank">mobile phone.

There are third party software developers like <a href="http://moborobo.en.softonic.com"target="_blank">Moborobo developing programs to manage Android phones but its nice to see phone manufacturers building apps specific for their own phones. The LG PC Suite makes it easy to manage data on your LG phone by offering USB and Bluetooth connectivity, called Air Sync. While Bluetooth gives you the flexibility to go wireless, USB will be faster for transferring data.

Users of the LG PC Suite will have to create an account with LG for syncing with their servers to keep your basic data safe. The LG PC Suite has the ability to back up your contacts, calendar, notes, photos, music and more, making it a very capable back up system for LG phones.

Another nice and unique feature that the LG PC Suite provides is the ability to control your LG phone on the computer. The screen is mirrored on the PC, making it easier to interact with the device without actually being on the phone.

Overall, the LG PC Suite is a great piece of software from LG. It's a shame it only developed the software for its own phone as it would have been nice to use it with other phones, especially Android smartphones.

Download LG PC Suite 4.3.41 in Softonic

Joypad Desktop Client 1.2

The Joypad desktop client turns your iPhone into a wireless controller for your PC or Mac.

To use Joypad you must install the app on your iPhone and a desktop client on your Mac or PC. Both devices have to be connected to the same WiFi network. The Joypad desktop client should automatically discover your iPhone is the app is running, but if not you can open settings and manually enter the MAC address of your phone which is given to you in the app.

As soon as the connect light turns green, you'll be able to use Joypad. The lite version comes with one 'pad, based on the old Nintendo Entertainment System. Upgrade and there are a number of more modern joypads you can use. Each button of the joypad can be configured to a corresponding key, and various configurations can be saved.

While touch joypads never quite match the real thing, Joypad is pretty good. Playing flash arcade games worked really well, as did playing old games through an emulator. As Joypad connects over WiFi, it is essential your connection is stable and not overloaded or it will suffer from lag. It's a shame bluetooth is not supported, as iPhones and Macs have it, as do many PC laptops.

Joypad is a great game controller app that's responsive and nicely configurable. If you hate playing with keyboard controls this could be just the thing for you - just hope no-one calls you mid-game!

Download Joypad Desktop Client 1.2 in Softonic

TriComm is a commercially avalable communications C++ library. It allows to generically establish TCP/IP, Serial or Bluetooth connections and operate them via the same API, just like they are the same.

Ideal for transport-independent communications applications, such as terminals for custom equipment. For wireless communications, the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile is used.

It's a standard profile, which allows to connect to a wide set of devices, such as Bluetooth dongles, computers, mobile phones and so on. Nowdays support for SPP is a must-have feature for terminal applications, designed for different flavours of modern equipment.

TCP/IP utilizes the Palm's internal TCP stack to establish connections to remote hosts located anywhere in the Internet. If the TCP/IP connection is not up, it's automatically brought up.

Palms can easily use IR, Wi-fi, Bluetooth or direct connection to the PC in order sign up to the network. Using TriComm, the program connects and accepts incoming TCP/IP connections on any port just with a few lines of code.

The library does the rest, including the interface part, including the nice ;Waiting for connection; or Connecting to dialogs. Using a special cable, your Palm can communicate with other devices using the old good COM port technology.

This way you can control many pieces of equipment, which provide this kind of interface. Modems, sensors and telemetry devices are just a cable away!

Download TriComm 1.0 in Softonic

Microsoft Phone Data Manager Beta

As mobile phones become ever smarter, more and more of us are using our devices as mini computers. But how easy do you find it to share data from your Windows machine with your mobile? Not very, I reckon.

Until now, only Windows Mobile users have really had any kind of standardized platform for transferring files and synchronizing contacts between a PC and a handheld device: using Microsoft ActiveSync. Not any more though, because Microsoft Phone Data Manger enables data sharing between Windows and a wide variety of different phones and PDAs.

Microsoft Phone Data Manger is specifically designed to transfer contacts, photos, music and video from your device to your PC, and to synchronize your phone's contacts with your Windows Live contacts. This is great for users of the service, as it ensures you have access to your phone book when you don't have it to hand, and means that your contacts are kept safe in the vent of you losing your mobile. Of course, this is only good if you use Windows Live, because Microsoft Phone Data Manager doesn't support GMail, Yahoo! or any other webmail provider.

The key to Microsoft Phone Data Manager lies in its simplicity. The application detects any device connected, provided it supports the SyncML standard - check the Microsoft website to see if your device does. You'll need to connect via Bluetooth or USB cable in order to perform syncs. Syncing in Phone Data Manager is a real breeze. You simply double-click on the device you wish to hook up to, then choose whether you want to sync your contacts or back up your files. Enter your Windows Live (or Hotmail) ID and the program will automatically share your contacts between your phone and the email service.

Microsoft Phone Data Manager is still in beta, so it isn't perfect. There are a few interface glitches, such as the screwy Live ID entry screen, and the fact that there aren't any advanced features like a proper file explorer.

On the whole, however, Microsoft Phone Data Manager provides a fast and reliable way of syncing contacts and backing up files.

Download Microsoft Phone Data Manager Beta in Softonic

ToneShop build 21

I always like to customize my mobile phone, since the first one I had a bunch of years ago. But for no apparent reason, I've always had problems when trying to choose the appropriate ringtone.

Now it looks like I found the end to my problems in ToneShop. This great application enables you to create your very own customized ringtones in just a few steps. It's compatible with many phone makes and models (including iPhone) and phone ringtone formats, and it's ridiculously easy to use.

Simply select your favorite song and crop it to the fragment you want to use as ringtone, which you can do with the program's built-in basic editor. This cropping tool doesn't allow much preciseness so you may as well use a third-party sound editor. Then select the format you want to export your newly created ringtone to, and you're done! We used an MP3 file to create a new tone for an iPhone and it all worked perfectly well.

Beware that your mobile phone may have restrictions about the ringtone's size and length. Also, note that you need to connect your phone to the PC in some way (USB cable, IR port, Bluetooth) in order to transfer the ringtone to the device. In the case of iPhone, just open the M4R file in iTunes and sync the ringtones folder with your phone.

Give the ultimate customizing touch to your mobile phone by creating your own personal ringtones. It's fast, very easy and totally free!

Download ToneShop build 21 in Softonic

EagleEyeOS One Free 2.0.1

EagleEyeOS One combined with One Plus provides a quick, efficient, and simple solution for protecting electronic data and documents against data leakage, without maintaining complicated data management software. The products are designed to create a low-cost and easy-to-install solution for single-computer systems and smaller networks. With the use of EagleEyeOS One and One Plus, auxiliary devices to the computer, used to extract information (e.g. Pen-Drive), can be blocked, and those processes can be tracked.

EagleEyeOS One Free is for anyone who does not require the extensive networks but want to determine an access policy to handle their mobile devices (Floppy, CD, DVD, InfraRed, COM, LPT, USB, Bluetooth, Wireless, etc.) in order to protect the data.

With it, the mobile devices that could be used to extract information can be blocked or rather, the activities executed on them can be traced. The program sends alerts to a predefined e-mail address about the connected and unplugged storage devices with the file operations executed on the storages.

Download EagleEyeOS One Free 2.0.1 in Softonic
