As far as free PDF converters go, doPDF is one of the best out there saving you tons of cash on Adobe's patented version and whatsmore, doing it in half the time.

The program is remarkably simple to use. Just open a document in Microsoft Word, WordPad, NotePad or practically any other text editing software, choose Print and select doPDF. The program asks you where to save the PDF file and when finished, the PDF file will be automatically opened in your default PDF viewer. This process takes less than a minute and you'll be amazed at how accurate the PDF is. Occasionally, it can suffer with unusually formatted text and images and so they won't come-out exactly as you want but this can be remedied.

Unfortunately, there's also no option to print large web pages (such as long news articles or forum pages) without dividing it into separate pages so you'll end up with lines dividing the article up throughout your PDF documents. The other slight downside is that it seems the PDF files it creates can be rather large although if you ZIP them up, this is not much of an issue.

An excellent PDF converter that's fast, easy to use and serves as more than an adequate replacement for Adobe's software.

Download doPDF 6.1.274 in Softonic

Finally you can create fully navigable online versions of your PDF files in a very stylish way. It’s like turning the page of a book but with the possibility of zooming in, so as not to stress your eyes.

3D Issue Manager is very easy to use, although the graphics could have been nicer. All it requires is that you select a PDF file, choose the orientation of the output document as portrait, landscape or a mix of both, and select the image resolution together with its quality. The program automatically creates the virtual booklet, which is optimized for search engines.

In the main window there are some interesting options you can choose from which allow you to personalise the zoom navigation to either click and drag, or mouse movements, and allow users to download an offline edition of your virtual glossy magazine. These are just two examples, but there is a whole feature list on offer. Strangely enough, the program’s windows are not resizable, which can be annoying if you have to work with different windows open.

With 3D Issue Manager you can easily and efficiently convert your PDF files into fully accessible online 3D booklets, so as to present documents in a stylish, glossy way - and save paper along the way.

Download 3D Issue Manager 3.1 in Softonic

PrimoPDF 4.1.0.9

There's an increasing demand for alternatives to Adobe's resource hogging, RAM sapping, not least expensive PDF creator and PrimoPDF weighs in as an excellent alternative.

The fact that this program is free makes it all the more appealing. One of the problems with these PDF programs is that invariably, they change the formatting of your text, once you've converted your Word, Publisher etc. document to PDF. PrimoPDF largely avoids this however converting to PDF as faithfully as the original. It's also remarkably fast and the installation is equally speedy.

Once installed, the program appears as a virtual printer in your Printer Driver preferences too. The main downside, of which there are few, is that you are regularly prompted to register although this is a small price to pay for an excellent program. It's also a bit unreliable when converting images. Text is fine but images can sometimes be in the wrong position or formatted incorrectly when converting from Office documents. It also doesn't use Windows standard way of saving documents - it has it's own format which doesn't suggest a file name but it's a small drawback.

A really excellent PDF creator that will have Adobe critics laughing all the way to their virtual printers.

Download PrimoPDF 4.1.0.9 in Softonic

PDF Download 2.0.0.0

There is nothing that annoys me more in Firefox when a PDF document tries to open and crashes the browser. That was until I tried PDF Download.

PDF Download prevents this problem ever arising by allowing you to control exactly how and when PDF files are opened or downloaded. Instead of opening PDF files "blind" which is currently the case, PDF Download lets you know exactly how big it is with options of whether to convert it, open it, download it or convert to HTML. PDF Download stops the annoying problem of PDF files taking ages to open - especially big ones. With PDF Download, you can see instantly whether its a big file, in which case, it's advisable to download it for reading later as opening a big PDF file is like waiting for Christmas to arrive sometimes.

The PDF Download plugin usually presents you with 3 options unless you've instructed it to do the same thing by default all the time - convert the PDF to HTML, download the PDF or open the PDF in the browser. One bonus with PDF Download, that perhaps separates it from others, is that it's not just limited to Adobe Reader. PDF Download also works with Foxit Reader and other PDF readers although to be honest, if you're using Foxit, you won't find much use for PDF Download anyway as it opens PDF files much more smoothly than Adobe Reader.

PDF Download is an excellent PDF tool which will result in fewer Firefox crashes although not everytime as it still seems susceptible to crashes when opening PDF files in the browser.

Download PDF Download 2.0.0.0 in Softonic

Royce PDF Printer works as a virtual printer that's configured and added to your Printers and Faxes folder and thus accessible from any Windows application with printing capabilities. The difference is that, instead of creating a copy of your documents on paper, Royce PDF Printer generates a PDF file.

The PDF you create with Royce PDF Printer contains exactly the same information as the original document. Plus, being a standard format, you have the guarantee that it'll keep its design and design, no matter in which program and/or platform the PDF is used.

Royce PDF Printer includes a complete settings menu you can access from the "Preferences" button in the Print dialog of any Windows app. My only complaint is the size of the watermark: I understand this is a shareware version, but was that huge watermark really necessary?

With Royce PDF Printer you can convert any document to PDF, as long as the application you open it with has printing capabilities.

Download Royce PDF Printer in Softonic

Any new content can be sent directly to the phone via WAP protocol. If the computer is connected to the Internet, any other physical link to the phone becomes redundant.

Using data exchange protocols, Create Ringtone sends the newly made content directly to the phone. A new ringtone or wallpaper can become a present for relatives and friends. By just choosing a global operator and typing the phone number you can forward both greetings and presents. IrDA, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity are equally supported. Automatic conversion and file transfer take a minute or so.

The program's intuitive interface makes the job of creating a new tune or a background a real pleasure. Create Ringtone saves both time and money that might have been spent with a content provider. It gives independence for creative thoughts and means to apply them in custom phone profiles. With wide range of supported audio formats one can convert any audio file into a trendy ringtone with a few mouse clicks.

Download Create Ringtone 4.98 in Softonic

Wouldn't it be great to have a tool that made it easier for you?

Morz Image Converter is one of those tools. But don't expect an attractive interface or lots of tools and menus. Mors Image Converter is directly embedded into Windows Explorer, which means that once installed on your computer, you can convert any photo from its context menu in Windows.

Simply right click on any photo and select the "Convert image(s)" option. You'll be presented with a window where you can choose the target format and the quality. When you click on "Convert" the program will convert all the selected images and save them into the same folder.

Handy as it is, I missed having a few more options in Morz Image Converter, such as the ability to rename converted files or save them in a different folder from the source one.

The problem is that Adobe Reader is the only tool to read it and it's both bulky and slow.

Foxit PDF Reader on the other hand is light and quick. The proof is in the pudding for starters - compare Foxit's installation file is only of just 2.2 MB against Acrobat's 20.8 MB and you can see why it opens documents in a snap. The key is that it doesn't have all those annoying splash-up screens, endless credits lists and plugins.

The program's interface been designed with ease of use in mind. You have several toolbars available, which you can show or hide at your will and which give you access to all the available utilities: zoom, text selection, image snapshot, search tool, rotation or full screen view, among others. There is a small ad in the upper right corner, but you can deactivate it by going to the View menu and deselecting the Advertisement option. One added bonus is that you can annotate PDF documents in several ways by highlighting text fragments, underlining them, strike them out or even add personal comments.

It's a Microsoft Word plug-in and it requires an updated version of Office i.e. your word processor must be updated with the latest Service Pack. Having said that, the CenoPDF bar and menu are very clear to use and the tools you can add on your Word document are well symbolized with self-clarifying icons. It is of course based on the principle of 'what you see is what you get' (WYSIWYG) so if you are not happy with the size or the location of one box, you can easily move it and resize it. An option menu for each function lets you decide all the settings you might need to personalize. Finally, you can export your document as PDF and see immediately the final result.

Pdf995 is a very easy and affordable way to create professional-quality documents in PDF format. There's little more to it other than selecting "print" from any application that you may be working on (such as MS Word) and then creating a PDF file which can be used on any computer with a PDF reader. The program supports network file saving, shared printing, custom page sizing and large format printing which means that its a suitable for making posters and promotional material. Pdf995 works by creating a virtual printer device from any application so the good thing is that it's accessible from any program you may be working in. It is the sheer number of features in Pdf995 that really impresses though including automatic insertion of embedded links, creation of hierarchical bookmarks, support for Digital Signatures (making it a secure option too) and you can even combine several PDF's into one PDF for really big documents. As you go through your PDF document editing it, you can also leave sticky notes to illustrate what you've changed or what you'd like changing to other users which provides a very visible and easy to use editing system.

If so, then deskUNPDF may well be what you need. This professional software can convert PDF's for editing and enables you to extract table information to Excel (.xls), convert PDF's into the Open Document format (.odt), HTML, images, perform batch conversions, and many more functions. The developers claim the software is based on enhanced "Accu-Text" rendering technology which means that the converted file is extremely faithful to the original. In practice, you may find that it's not quite as accurate as they claim - boxes and images, statistics and text may appear slightly altered or in different positions to the original but generally, it produces pretty accurate results. Probably it is the Excel conversions that are the most useful since converting from PDF to Excel is notoriously fraught with problems but this program seems to handle it all with minimum fuss.

novaPDF is a PDF creator that allows you to easily create high-quality searchable PDF files. The first thing you'll notice is that it's very easy to use because once installed, all you have to do is select "Print" from the file menu of virtually any application you're using. The reason being is that novaPDF acts like a virtual printer. You can create just about any type of PDF file including bookmarks, PDF links, public and private documents as well as PDF watermarks and perform PDF compression. Although it's very straightforward with a fully comprehensive tutorial and manual, there's even free support which is unusual in an unregistered piece of software (although registered users are dealt with first). You have pretty much full control over what you add to the documents including the ability to embed fonts and insert images of different resolutions. If your images or text are unusually large - don't worry, you can compress the entire document afterwards no matter what it contains.

At just a fraction of the cost of Adobe's software, novaPDF is a superb answer to your PDF needs and it also enables you to do your bit for the environment by using less paper.

Download novaPDF Pro 5.3.247 in Softonic

Text Mining Tool 1.1.42

PDF and DOC are probably the most common extensions for digital documents nowadays. This means that you need to have a PDF reader and a DOC-compatible app, or you're doomed.

Luckily there's another trick that enables you to read PDF, DOC and other popular document formats without having to install their associated software. Just use Text Mining Tool, a simple utility that extracts the text from any file you load on the program and displays it on its screen. Then you only have to save it as plain format or copy it directly to the Clipboard for later usage.

The program doesn't include any other configuration options, which keeps it very easy to use. On the downside, it lacks the possibility of customizing the output. During our tests, we ripped the text from a PDF document and the resulting TXT file was all garbled up when opened in Notepad (not when opened in Wordpad tough).

Text Mining Tool is a good choice for extracting text from PDF and DOC to plain files. Bear in mind that both format and images will be lost.

Download Text Mining Tool 1.1.42 in Softonic

MagicPDF 2.0.667

Who says you need an expensive software package to create PDF files? Just download Magic PDF and do it for free!

Using Magic PDF is as easy as printing a document from any Windows application. Once the program has been installed, simply create a document in your favorite editor, whether that is Notepad or Microsoft Word. When you're finished, go to the printing menu in your application and select Magic PDF as the target printer. This means that instead of obtaining a copy of your document on paper, you'll convert it to PDF, as simple as that.

The resulting PDF file looks perfect, without any watermark or advertising bottom line added. The only thing is that, being as this program is the freeware version of a more complete tool, you won't get any of the advanced features that you find in other PDF apps such as password protection, encryption, multiple PDF combination and user action restrictions.

Despite its lack of advanced features, Magic PDF is a perfectly valid, very handy way to create PDF files in just one click.

Download MagicPDF 2.0.667 in Softonic

Free PDF to Word Doc Converter 1.1

The good thing about PDF documents is that they keep the same design and layout cross-platform. The bad thing is that they can't be easily edited.

Of course, there are a few PDF editors out there but they're usually quite expensive. So if you don't want to spend your savings in such a program, use Free PDF to Word Doc Converter instead. Despite not being a PDF editor in itself, this simple tool will enable you to perform certain PDF editing tasks by converting the original PDF files to Word documents. And you don't even need to have Acrobat PDF Reader or Microsoft Word installed.

Free PDF to Word Doc Converter is very easy to use: select the source PDF file and target directory and choose whether you want to convert the whole file or just a certain page range. Then you'll be able to open and edit your document in Word just like any other DOC file.

While Free PDF to Word Doc Converter seems to work fine, I had some trouble with PDF embedded images in some of my conversions. Also, bear in mind that once your editing is done, you'll have to save the document in DOC format: there's no way to go back to PDF – at least with this app.

Free PDF to Word Doc Converter enables you to easily convert PDF documents to DOC files. You'll be able then to edit it or extract its images, but not to save it back to PDF again.

Download Free PDF to Word Doc Converter 1.1 in Softonic

Zoner Photo Studio 9

Zoner Photo Studio includes all the tools you need to make the most of your digital photo collection.

This comprehensive suite covers every necessary step in photo managing, from extracting pictures from your digital camera to sharing them online. You can view the whole photo directory in thumbnails and double-click on any of them when you want to see if in full screen. Plus, if any of your photos needs optimization, you can also use Zoner for that, as it features tools to balance color, correct gamma values, resize images or even remove that undesirable red-eye effect.

Besides acquiring and optimizing, what I liked most about Zoner Photo Studio was the wide variety of publishing options the program includes for photos. From using your favorite shot as a desktop wallpaper to creating a DVD slideshow to enjoy your pics on TV, there are a bunch of really interesting possibilities, such as creating a web gallery, a customized calendar, a panoramic photo or even a 3D image, to name a few.

To be honest, the only drawback to Zoner Photo Studio is its clunky interface, although fortunately it can somewhat be fixed with skins. The real problem is that there are so many windows, sub-windows, panels and menus (especially when creating photo albums) that it feels confusing and overwhelming, to say the least.

Zoner Photo Studio gives you everything you need to view, optimize, share and enjoy your digital photos.

Download Zoner Photo Studio 9 in Softonic

When redirecting to a printer, reduce saturation to save color cartridge or increase value to save black ink.

The quickest way you'll find to uses Miraplacid Publisher 2008 is to drag documents to the desktop shortcut which automatically prints the documents in the background.
