What is Lightroom?

It certainly provides some interesting options to do this, including highlight and shadow recovery, white balance features and local noise/moire tools. This is in addition to all the usual editing tools, which are present and easy to apply.

Presentation options

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom really excels when it comes to presenting your photos and passing them on. You can email directly from this new version, as well as sharing with a variety of social networks and photo sharing sites. The Book feature is also new, allowing you to create a variety of beautiful photo books from templates. The battle against telepathic monsters

In Metro: Last Light, you'll play Artyom. The action is interspersed with dialogue that provides you with more information. You'll have 3 weapons to start with, and, as the game progresses, you can build on this arsenal by exchanging ammunition, which serves as the game's currency.

In order to survive above ground, you'll need to use a gas mask. Keep an eye out though, because the mask's filter can become blocked, or the eye piece will cloud over with contamination. If either of these scenarios come to pass, it could lead to your demise.

Unnervingly beautiful graphics

The tragedy and pain of the story behind Metro: Last Light is clearly and perfectly reflected in the graphics. Faces are lined with pain and sync crisply with dialogue. The landscape of the decimated world and murky underground are patent and palpable - chipped tiles, rusty pipes, dirty stations and scurrying rats.

Everything in Metro: Last Light is beautifully fluid. The "camera" moves between fights and panorama seamlessly, the music changes from scene to scene, moving from lighthearted excitement to terror and doom. It really is a pleasure to look at.

An exciting stealth terror shooter

Metro: Last Light doesn't do things by halves. The hideous mutants, macabre surprises, creepy atmosphere and awesome soundtrack make for a game that is nothing short of memorable.

We've taken points off for the lack of a co-op mode, which would have been easy to implement. In a sentence, Metro: Last Light is solid - and solitary - entertainment, but lacks re-playability.

A terrifying alternative world

Metro: Last Light is set in a barren wasteland, where Nazi Germany rules and everybody else has been forced below ground. The only people who can survive above ground must wear special breathing equipment, while everybody else takes refuge in subway station townships.

The Metro: Last Light world is beset with mutants and a new race of telepathic humanoids, and it is among them that you must fight. The storyline is loosely based on the novel Metro 1033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky.

That said, you’d be hard pressed to say that anything else about this program is simple - reviewing Blender was like one of those nightmares where you suddenly realize that you are in deep water, but don’t know how to swim.

Full of features

Amazing in its variety, flexibility and features, Blender is huge, and a single review just doesn't seem to do it justice. For the uninitiated, the interface is overwhelming. There are bunches of panels and bars, all full of explanations and icons, with tooltips for everything. It is also completely customizable, as you can add and remove sections as desired, as well as moving them around and resizing.

Beneath the options menus are Blender’s functions, ranging from rigging and modeling to animation and game creation. In fact, Blender 3D has so many features that listing them all here would take hours, so take a peek at the definitive guide here. Among the more surprising elements included in the program are a built-in text editor, audio playback/editing and a game engine.

Steep learning curve

Blender has no configuration options to speak of as all the program's features can be toggled from the main interface. It is really a program for experts, or for users who hope to become much more proficient. Although there are good Blender tutorials on the website, this 3D modeling program is not something to casually play around with. Beginners would probably be better off, in fact, having a look at something more accessible, such as Google SketchUp.

For Chime to recognize a service you must log into each of them separately from their main website. Once you’ve logged in to one or more of these services Chime will notify you of activity in three ways. First, a pop-up will show in the lower right corner of your desktop. Second, clicking the Chime extension icon will show a drop down list of all unread alerts. Last, you can open a Chime tab that will provide all past notifications.

With all of these great features it's a shame that Chime does not support other popular web services such as LinkedIn, Tumblr, or Outlook. Hopefully these will be included in the final release.

Usability

Chime is intuitive and easy to use. You will be presented with large icons of each of the supported web services, though there are no rollovers or headers for ones you might not be familiar with. Clicking on an icon will take you to the corresponding website where you can log in. Chime's functionality depends on your settings on each individual website. For example, if you disable notifications on Facebook, then Chime will have nothing to intercept. Clicking on a notification will take you directly to the corresponding website.

Despite Chime’s name there are no actual audio notifications or settings to change how notifications appear. At present you can only choose to enable/disable desktop notifications. You can filter and hide each service type in both the drop down menu and Chime tab. However, if you do not have log in cookies enabled filtering will log you out of a service.

Quality

Chime is coordinated with each network’s prime color: Facebook is blue, Reddit is orange, etc. Whenever a notification pops up or is checked it will have a clear colored banner. Chime has slow down when first logging into a service, especially if it’s accumulating hundreds of unread emails or replies. After the initial hiccup Chime works smoothly without noticeable performance issues.

Conclusion

Chime is a great way to stay on top of ten popular web services and social networks. The beta might have some minor performance and functionality issues, but it’s still an excellent means of monitoring popular sites.

By clicking on the RSS tag in the URL bar, you can get a view of all the posts in a feed, which you can present chronologically and get a detailed or a title view. There will be inevitably some programs and plugins - such as 1Password - that don't work with this new version of Safari but these issues will quickly be ironed out by the developers of respective software.
