TouchLauncher 2.4

We'd all love to have an iPhone but unfortunately not all of us have the cash to stump up for one.

Don't worry though, because if you've got a Palm device you can at least pretend to have one of Apple's great inventions by using TouchLauncher.

You might think that the Palm OS is a little antiquated now and to some degree you'd be right, but using TouchLauncher you can disguise that fact with an interface that is remarkably true to Apple's wonder device.

Once installed, TouchLauncher embeds itself on your device and can be launched with an icon. The alternative Startup screen looks very similar to the iPhone, with some lovely animation.

In fact all of the TouchLauncher menu items are animated with a series of plush icons that replace the rather drab default Palm ones.

Another added bonus in TouchLauncher is the Pocket Tunes skin that adds iPod Touch-style control buttons to the MP3 player.

It all looks very nice, but be warned that it does have a tendancy to drain battery power so think twice before setting TouchLauncher as your default launcher.

Download TouchLauncher 2.4 in Softonic

Pocket Tunes Deluxe 4.0.7

If you haven't got an MP3 player then, quite frankly, you're a bit of a dweeb. Not worry though, because if you've got a Palm device you can redeem your credibility by installing Pocket Tunes on the OS.

The application not only allows you to play tunes from your personal collection on your handheld, but you can also use it to gain access to a bevy of tunes online. The app supports all the popular online music stores which support Microsoft's Janus technology, and even lets you play tracks from Napster To Go, and Rhapsody To Go. It also lets you tune into Internet radio stations and share them with your friends via Bluetooth, email or Infrared.

Pocket Tunes places a multitude of audio sources at your fingertips, I just wish the connection speeds were quick enough that I could really enjoy it. Unfortunately though, downloading music to a Palm device is a laborious process.

Nevertheless, when you have tunes on your device, this application provides an impeccable surface for spinning them on. The player can be skinned to your heart's content by downloading new themes and there are lots of options for adjusting the sound. For instance, you get a graphic equalizer, bass boost, gapless playback, volume boost, and even a primitive crossfader for mixing your tunes.

If you haven't got an MP3 player but have got a Palm then Pocket Tunes is a real must-have.

Download Pocket Tunes Deluxe 4.0.7 in Softonic

Vexed 2.2

Don't you just hate those long bus journies where you've got nothing to read and your battery has run out on your MP3 player? Personally in these situations I pull out my mobile phone and settle down to a stimulating puzzle game.

Vexed is just the game for these kind of trips and lives up to its name by providing you with hours of brain-bending fun. The purpose of the game is to clear the board by matching up colored blocks. You can push the blocks from side to side and allow gravity to send them down but you can't move them upwards, which is where your powers of logic are tested to the limit.

Some of the levels are infuriatingly difficult and yet it becomes impossible to stop playing them such is the desire to not let them get the better of you. Even after you've finished a level you're still only a tiny fraction of the way through the game because there are hundreds of levels organised into different 'packs'. Even perusing the names of the levels is entertaining, as each pack has its own theme, from Beatles songs to U.S. cities.

There are quite a few options to play around with, such as customizable block sets, sound effects and scoring. In-game options include solutions, undo, view remaining blocks, and more.

A multiplayer mode would've been a nice addition, but overall Vexed is a brilliant bus boredom buster.

Download Vexed 2.2 in Softonic
