PES 2012 Pro Evolution Soccer 1.0.5

PES 2012 is an iOS version of the popular soccer game, also known as Pro Evolution Soccer. This is a 'freemium' version of the game, where it's free to download but features are limited.

Based around all the gameplay elements that made Pro Evo 2011 for iOS so much fun, PES 2012 brings more fast, fluid soccer action to the mobile platform. The graphics and animation are realistic, as are the sound effects and background jeering and cheering. With three different control systems, you should be able to find a comfortable way for you to play PES 2012.

There are plenty of game modes in the full version of PES 2012 to keep you occupied for hours. You can play a quick match, exhibition, UEFA Champions League/Europa League season, and domestic league/cup.

New for PES 2012 on iOS is the Super Challenge, which is the equivalent of Master League in the full Pro Evo game. Here you get to lead a team to victory in season mode, making transfers, picking the team and playing out league and cup matches.

One nice addition to PES 2012 is that you can use the team you build in Super Challenge to take on your buddies online in a Friend Challenge. This version of PES includes more community features, including Facebook integration where you can share your performances and lay down challenges to opponents.

Another fun section is the Free Kick Challenge, where you shoot a series of free kicks, trying to get them as close to the target as possible within a given time. This is a great mini game within PES 2012 that's perfect to pick up and play on the bus stop. It's more technical than Flick Football, and arguably more fun, too.

PES 2012 is free to download and install, although features are very limited. You can only play one half of a game between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in Quick Mode (as Madrid), tackle Super Challenge as Athletic Bilbao, play the Free Kick Challenge, or take part in training.

PES 2012 may not have the officially licensed players that FIFA 12 does, but we'd argue that it's more fun to play than EA's title.

Download PES 2012 Pro Evolution Soccer 1.0.5 in Softonic

Real Football 2013 1.0.1

Real Football 2013 is a realistic soccer playing/management sim where you have to master every aspect of playing and coaching a soccer team.

When you start Real Football 2013, you must choose the club that you want to take to the top. Unfortunately, due to licensing issues not all of the players and teams are real names which reduces the realism a bit. A detailed tutorial explains the different facets of the game during pre-season. You must develop the abilities of your players but also to buy reinforcements in transfer windows which can suddenly open. You can also benefit from one free random transfer per day although the quality of the player you receive varies.

Improve your club

As you progress through RF 2013, you earn virtual money which allows you to expand the club facilities, the training center and things such as the medical care center or spa. You can even hire more qualified coaching staff. And if you're short of cash, you can use real world cash to purchase more virtual credit.

Tactically good but room for improvement

The tactical side of RF 2013 is very well done with a clear and practical interface. However, the actual game phases are disappointing, especially considering the amount of effort needed to get so far. The gameplay is average and you can make lots of different moves. However, some of the animations are quite poor and repetitive.

Remember that older versions of Real Football on iOS are still available for download:

Download Real Football 2010
Download Real Football 2011
Download Real Football 2012

Real Football 2013 is overall a highly realistic soccer sim although the actual playing of games and graphics could definitely be improved.

Download Real Football 2013 1.0.1 in Softonic

Football Manager Handheld 2012 for iOS puts you in the hot-seat of a soccer club, challenging you to guide the team to glory on the pitch with your tactical knowledge, transfer dealing, and man management skills.

It's hard to imagine a mobile version of the game could be anything like as in-depth as the original, but Football Manager Handheld 2012 offers a surprisingly rich management experience. You can take control of a team from a choice of leagues across 12 different countries.

You get to set tactics, pick formations, issue team and individual instructions, organize training, scout players and make transfers, just like the desktop version of <taglink type="program" country="en" id="329516">Football Manager 2012</taglink>. Like the desktop of the game, Football Manager Handheld 2012 comes with a huge database of real players, which is kept updated.

A new addition to Football Manager Handheld 2012 is the Challenge mode. Here, you're thrust into a variety of scenarios with challenges such as preventing a team from getting relegated, or ensuring a team goes unbeaten for an entire season. The challenge mode makes for an interesting distraction to the standard season simulation.

In terms of the match graphics, there's no 3D view in Football Manager Handheld 2012 like you get in the full game. However, the top-down, 2D display is smart enough, and you still get a good idea of how you're team is playing.

Though it lacks the vast depth of the desktop version, there's still plenty of fun to be had with Football Manager Handheld 2012 if you're a fan of soccer management games.

Download Football Manager Handheld 2012 3.3 in Softonic

Fantasy Football Cheatsheet '10 is an application to help you choose and track your fantasy football drafts.

The app offers a guide to more than 500 players from all the NFL teams, providing you with stats and AccuStat projections about byes, ADPs and AAVs for each player. Tap a player and Fantasy Football Cheatsheet '10 opens a profile of that guy, allowing you to put them in your draft or add them to your wish list.

There are a range of filtering options within Fantasy Football Cheatsheet '10 that allow you to sort by position, listing only available or only taken players, or showing just rookies or just veterans. There's also a handy search feature that lets you browse straight to a player you've got your eye on.

Customizable scoring

The great thing about Fantasy Football Cheatsheet '10 is that it's compatible with virtually any league and scoring system. You can fully customize the way points are awarded using the custom scoring feature in the app.

Fantasy Football Cheatsheet '10 also brings you up-to-the-minute NFL news so you can check if you're players are involved in any incidents. Very helpfully, a cross icon will appear next to a headline if the story involves an injury to a player.

Moving around the app

The user interface in Fantasy Football Cheatsheet '10 is a real work of art. It manages to pack a dizzying amount of stats into a space that remains neat and well-ordered.We particularly like the way you can swipe through a player's details to display previous years' stats, and news articles relating to that player.

Be warned that Fantasy Football Cheatsheet '10 crashed on us during our tests of version 3.2, but hopefully these issues will be snuffed out in future releases.

Overall, Fantasy Football Cheatsheet '10 provides a great way to help your strengthen your draft for the 2010 NFL season.

Download Fantasy Football Cheatsheet '10 3.3.4 in Softonic

Real Soccer 2010 1.4.7

Real Soccer 2010 is an ambitious iPad football game that challenges you to achieve glory in a range of competitions and game modes.

Graphically, Real Soccer 2010 certainly looks the part. The motion of the players is realistic, the stadiums look great and the game menus are generally well designed.

The best thing about Real Soccer 2010 is the amount of different game modes it has. You can choose a full season (including management and player transfer options); international and domestic league and cup competitions; penalty shootouts; and an Enter the Legend mode in which you just control one player on a team. Real Soccer 2010 also includes multiplayer modes, where you can play against your buddies over WiFi or Bluetooth.

Real Soccer 2010 HD boasts a large database of different teams and players to choose from. Most of the player names in the game are real, thanks to a licensing deal with FIFPro. There's even an editor that lets you alter team and player names, so you can ensure that all the data is up-to-date and correct.

Gameplay

Controlling the players in Real Soccer 2010 is a lot more user-friendly than it is in the HD iPad version. Moving around is done via an on-screen joystick. There are only two action buttons, but there's still a fair range of passes and moves you can execute, based on the position of the ball and your position on the pitch.

The commentary in Real Soccer 2010 is so bad that it can put you off of the game at times. Rather than get a well-known commentator to lend their voice, Gameloft seems to have picked an old man off the street and got him to record himself mispronouncing scores of names, and getting ridiculously over-excited about a good pass or a tackle.

We tested version 1.1.0 of Real Soccer 2010 and experienced a few bugs. These included lag when moving between menu screens, unresponsiveness during gameplay, and getting thrown out of the game entirely on a couple of times.

Real Soccer 2010 could do with a little more polish in terms of its presentation, but overall it's quite an enjoyable soccer game.

Download Real Soccer 2010 1.4.7 in Softonic

Football Manager has long been regarded as the ultimate virtual soccer management simulation. Now you can play this dangerously addictive game wherever you go with Football Manager Handheld 2010 on your iPhone.

It's hard to imagine a mobile version of the game could be anything like as in-depth as the original, but Football Manager Handheld 2010 offers a surprisingly rich management experience. You can take control of a team from a choice of 34 leagues across 11 different countries. You get to set tactics, pick formations, issue team and individual instructions, organize training, scout players and make transfers, just like the desktop version of Football Manager 2010.

Like I said, the depth of Football Manager Handheld 2010 is incredible for an iPhone game. There's a database of 20,000 real players, each with their own stats, attributes and a history of their career. You can play the transfer market through an elaborate filtering system to find exactly the right player for your team. Football Manager Handheld 2010 contains full support for scouting, and you can assign your scouts to individual players.

For such a complex game, Football Manager Handheld 2010 is very simple to get around. All game menus have large, explanatory icons and once inside these menus the process of viewing players, setting tactics, and organizing your team is very straightforward. You can swipe the screen to switch views and change players around by dragging and dropping.

The match view in Football Manager Handheld 2010 isn't quite as polished as it is in the desktop version, but it's still very impressive. You get to watch in-game commentary with pitch view highlights and you can see real time match stats, player ratings, action areas, etc.

Of course, there are things from the full game that are missing in Football Manager Handheld 2010. For example, you can't take control of international teams, there are no touchline instructions, and you don't get to handle the media. This doesn't detract much from the game though, and some might even welcome the dumbing down of Football Manager 2010 because there are now less distractions in the game.

Hats off to Sports Interactive because Football Manager Handheld 2010 is an outstanding conversion of a superb soccer management game. Now watch your social life disappear once and for all!

Download Football Manager Handheld 2010 1.7 in Softonic

Shake your iPhone and it will emit a more prolonged screech, until you stop moving it. Annoyingly, it's not that easy to make 'tunes' using Air Horn because it's not possible to change the pitch of the horn, an effect that you can produce on many real life horns.

Neverthless, the sound produced by Air Horn is very authentic and if you have the volume on your phone ramped up to maximum then you'll certainly attract plenty of attention.

Whether everyone else thinks it's as amusing as you do though, is an entirely different matter.

Download Air Horn 2.3 in Softonic

NCAA Football is the first iPhone version of EA's popular college football sim. It allows you to play as your favorite school in a quest to win the BCS National Championship.

There are three main game modes to choose from in NCAA Football. You can choose to play a single match, enter a full season, or go head-to-head with your buddies over Bluetooth. There are 55 different college teams to choose from in NCAA Football, although not all of the major schools are represented in the game. Lamentably, the team's don't include real player names, although there is an editor that lets you build a custom college from scratch.

Playing NCAA Football is a real joy. Thanks to a packed playbook, there's plenty of strategy involved, as well as a bit of skill and dexterity when using the action buttons. There's a great stopwatch feature that allows you to slow down the play for a few seconds in order to plan your moves. When on the offense, you can draw 'hot routes' to manually set up your plays.

The presentation of NCAA Football isn't as slick as the breathtaking Madden NFL 11. The graphics are more blocky and the animation is jerky, although it's still not bad for a mobile game.

NCAA Football is an enjoyable game that's worth installing for any fan of college football.

Download NCAA Football 1.0.1 in Softonic

NFL Rush Zone 1.1.1

NFL Rush Zone is a football flavored, five-minute timewaster for your iPhone, featuring two very different casual games.

The first game, Detentionator Dash, is something we can all relate to. You have to sneak your football player out of a classroom detention, avoiding the laser eyesight of the killer robot teacher. NFL Rush Zone here requires you to tap on classroom chairs while the laser isn't looking at you moving your player closer and closer to the exit. Reach the exit, and you'll start a new classroom. The teacher's laser sight get's faster and less predictable as you go on.

NFL Rush Zone's other game is Lateral Collateral, where you have to pass the ball as your team rushes up the field, avoiding oncoming opposition. It's just a case of tapping left or right so the players pass at the right moment. One annoyance with NFL Rush Zone's Lateral Collateral is the tendency for a tap to activate pause instead of a pass, which upsets the game's rhythm.

NFL Rush Zone is fun for a little while, but there's no real depth in these games, even for a casual title

Download NFL Rush Zone 1.1.1 in Softonic

PES 2010 1.3.0

PES 2010 brings the magic of the Pro Evolution soccer sim to the iPhone. The game translates pretty well from the console and PC versions, thanks to some interesting control systems.

As soon as you launch PES 2010 you'll notice how similar the game looks to the main version, in terms of the user interface and the game options you have available. PES 2010 offers a range of game types, including the Champions League and Europa League, quick match, exhibition, league, cup, and training. Notable absentees from the big-screen version of Pro Evolution are the Master League and the data editor.

Control options

There are four camera angles and three different control methods to choose from in PES 2010. You can opt for a virtual analog pad with two on-screen buttons; or just the analog pad without buttons, where player actions are performed based on the way you tap the screen.

If you're feeling really adventurous you could try PES 2010's liberating accelerometer mode where you move your players by tilting the screen. This isn't as chaotic as it might sound and with a bit of practice it starts to feel quite comfortable and natural.

Looking good

The graphics in PES 2010 are very good, and the animation feels smoother than that of FIFA 10, and even X2 Football. Unfortunately, unlike these other two titles, there is no in-game commentary, which is a real shame because it leaves matches feeling a bit flat and unexciting at times.

Our other major criticism of PES 2010 is that there is no multiplayer mode. Considering Pro Evolution Soccer is so much fun to play with pals, it's a real shame you can't go head-to-head over WiFi or Bluetooth.

Overall though, PES 2010 is a very good football game for iPhone, and it's a must-have for fans of the original console game.

Download PES 2010 1.3.0 in Softonic

Real Soccer 2010 HD 1.0.1

Real Soccer 2010 HD is an ambitious iPad football game that challenges you to achieve glory in a range of competitions and game modes.

Graphically, Real Soccer 2010 HD certainly looks the part, and the transition to high definition from the iPhone version has been a success. The motion of the players is realistic, the stadiums look great and the game menus are generally well designed.

The best thing about Real Soccer 2010 HD is the amount of different game modes it has. You can choose a full season (including management and player transfer options); international and domestic league and cup competitions; penalty shootouts; and an Enter the Legend mode in which you just control one player on a team. Real Soccer 2010 HD also includes multiplayer modes, where you can play against your buddies over WiFi or Bluetooth.

Real Soccer 2010 HD boasts a large database of different teams and players to choose from. Most of the player names in the game are real, thanks to a licensing deal with FIFPro. There's even an editor that lets you alter team and player names, so you can ensure that all the data is up-to-date and correct.

Gameplay gripes

Despite all this choice of teams, players and game modes, Real Soccer 2010 HD disappoints when it comes to the most important aspect of any football sim - the gameplay. The on-screen joystick and two-button control system is very clunky, and performing accurate passes and shots is very difficult.

You can customize the layout of controls in Real Soccer 2010 HD, but it does nothing to improve the responsiveness, and the fact that many moves need to be done using finger gestures. Even the gimmicky throw-in system in Real Soccer 2010 HD - where you flick the iPad to launch the ball into play - gets boring after a while. We also noticed some bugs and gameplay glitches in testing. For instance, players often get stuck running into thin air.

Crackpot commentary

On top of being very difficult, Real Soccer 2010 HD is made more irritating by the awful in-game commentary. Rather than get a well-known commentator to lend their voice, Gameloft seems to have picked an old man off the street and got him to record himself mispronouncing scores of names, and getting ridiculously over-excited about a good pass or a tackle.

Real Soccer 2010 HD looks great on the big screen, but ultimately it's let down by cumbersome controls, glitchy gameplay and corny commentary.

Download Real Soccer 2010 HD 1.0.1 in Softonic

X2 Football 2010 Lite 3.0

X2 Football 2010 is the latest installment in the popular iPhone soccer game series - and it's better than ever!

Just like Pro Evolution Soccer did on consoles and home computers, X2 Football has gained cult status among iPhone gamers. In fact, the game even looks and feels a lot like Pro Evoltion Soccer, only a little scaled back, of course.

The control system in X2 Football 2010 will feel very comfortable and familiar for anyone who has played a football game on their console. On the left of the screen is an analog 'stick' which controls the movement of the players, and which houses a skill move that can be activated by double-tapping the stick. On the right of the X2 Football 2010 screen are a series of three buttons for passing, shooting, lobbing, tackling, changing player, etc. The actions of the buttons depend on whether you are attacking or defending. It doesn't take long to get used to the controls, but there's plenty of help within the game if you get stuck.

The graphics and animation in X2 Football 2010 are polished and the game physics are impressively realistic. The sound effects and commentary have been lovingly implemented too, making for an absorbing and enjoyable football experience. I also love the fact that all the teams in X2 Football 2010 have real player names and authentic kits. There's a decent selection of international sides to choose from and X2 Football 2010 now includes loads of club teams, something that was missing in the previous version.

This Lite version of X2 Football 2010 is frustratingly limited, only allowing you to play in training mode or take part in a penalty shootout. Nevertheless X2 Football 2010 gives you a good chance to try out all the moves and get used to the gameplay.

Expecting an iPhone soccer sim to play like a FIFA or a Pro Evo is asking a bit much I guess, but X2 Football 2010 comes very close to getting it right. It's certainly more playable than FIFA 10 for iPhone, anyway.

On the whole, X2 Football 2010 is a highly enjoyable soccer game for iPhone. Just be warned, this Lite version is ultra light.

Download X2 Football 2010 Lite 3.0 in Softonic

FIFA World Cup 1.0.2

FIFA World Cup is the official game of the World Cup in South Africa. The game challenges you to qualify then go on to the finals and attempt to win the greatest prize in soccer.

FIFA World Cup is endorsed by football's governing body, meaning that all of the teams and players are officially licensed. The format and schedule of the World Cup finals is set up exactly as it will be in real life, and the actual stadiums have all been realized in the game.

FIFA World Cup gives you the choice to try and qualify, or proceed directly to the final tournament. Other game modes include penalty shoot-out, multiplayer over WiFi or Bluetooth, and the Captain your Country mode. The latter of these sees you take charge of just one player on the field, while the CPU takes command of the rest of the team.

The controls in FIFA World Cup are based around an on-screen joypad. The joystick on the left is used to move the players around, and the buttons on the right are used for actions such as shooting, passing, tackling, etc. This type of control system gives FIFA World Cup a definite disadvantage of its console-based bigger brother. It often make hard to see exactly where your players are because they are obscured by your thumb or finger. Personally, I find both FIFA World Cup and the FIFA 10 game much harder to control than other iPhone soccer games, such as X2 Football, for example.

In terms of its graphics, FIFA World Cup doesn't offer anything particularly special. The animation is OK but the player sprites are very spindly looking and their movement is slugglish at times. The commentary isn't very in-depth and there seems to be a lack of audio samples in there, as team and player names are rarely announced.

If you already have FIFA 10 on your iPhone, there may not be much incentive to go buy FIFA World Cup. However, if you want the ability to take control of any international team in the World, and fix up an encounter between Benin and Macedonia like we did, FIFA World Cup will serve you well.

FIFA World Cup won't go down a classic but it's a fun way to warm up for the actual World Cup.

Download FIFA World Cup 1.0.2 in Softonic

FIFA 10 1.0.15

Along with Pro Evolution Soccer, FIFA has dominated the world of soccer sims for a few years now. Finally, EA has decided its time for the game to go mobile, and the result is FIFA 10 for iPhone.

Just like the 'real' <taglink type="program" country="en" id="86980">FIFA 10</taglink>, the iPhone version is a fully licensed simulation that lets you play in competitions from a wide range of World leagues, ranging from the Scottish Premier League to the Brazilian League. There's also a wide selection of international teams, and you can compete for the ultimate prize, the FIFA World Cup.

There are several game modes in FIFA 10 including a management option, multiplayer over WiFi, and the now ubiquitous 'Become a Pro' format, where you choose a player or create your own footballer and play only as them, with the aim of achieving as much as you can in your career.

Of course, the biggest concern with porting a game like FIFA 10 to a small screen device is the playability. Thankfully, EA have just about got it right. The controls are based around a touch joypad and two on-screen buttons for passing, shooting, tackling, etc. While this system obviously doesn't allow for the full range of tricks and moves as a console joypad, it is very comfortable and easy to pick up.

One thing I will point out while we're talking about controls is that touch control on the tactics and management screens is woeful. The fact that the player names are so small means you can spend two minutes just trying to swap one player with another. I find it incredible that this could've been ignored by EA's testers during FIFA 10's development.

Naturally, the graphics in the iPhone version of FIFA 10 aren't as polished as they are on its big screen counterpart, and there are no real player likenesses. Likewise, the commentary isn't as comprehensive either and you won't hear any player names being read out. This isn't a criticism as such because, for a handheld football game, FIFA 10 is very well presented in the main.

The matches themselves are just as absorbing as they are in FIFA 10 on any other platform. The satisfaction of sticking one in the onion bag from 30 yards is still fantastic, and the flexible replay system allows you to enjoy the moment over and over and over again.

Overall, FIFA 10 probably justs shades X2 Football game as the best iPhone soccer game, if only for the fact it has such a wealth of licensed players, teams and leagues.

Download FIFA 10 1.0.15 in Softonic
