7 Little Words 1.18

7 Little Words is a game for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch that challenges users to piece together words based on puzzle clues.

If you're a fan of crossword puzzles or other word games, 7 Little Words is a fantastic little app to take with you on the go. It'll keep you challenged and test the vocabulary prowess of even the most advanced wordsmiths out there.

Much like what Astraware Sudoku does for numbers, 7 Little Words will challenge the limits of your knowledge of different words. In each puzzle you're given seven clues with which you'll have to figure out the seven mystery words. To help you out, 7 Little Words gives you 20 letter sets. Use these number sets to spell out the mystery word based on the clues you're given. Once you think you've figured out the mystery word, click the "guess" button. If you're right, the clue will be bolded. You can guess the words in whatever order you like.

Once you've figured out all seven mystery words in 7 Little Words, you can move on to the next puzzle. The only real complaint some users might have is that the game's a little repetitive. It would've been nice if 7 Little Words had offered more than just the standard game set-up.

Avid wordsmiths will enjoy 7 Little Words though for its challenging clues and clean interface.

Download 7 Little Words 1.18 in Softonic

To keep all the options under control, there's also a comprehensive help section and a good selection of configuration options.

Andoku Sudoku also has an interesting selection of input methods, some of which may not be immediately familiar to users. You can choose between methods under settings, but you will probably need a few minutes to get used to them. Brain Evolution is split into two modes - one for measuring your status, and one to help you improve your abilities.

After you've created your profile in Spb Brain Evolution, you'll embark on the status-measuring mode, where you have to play each of the mini games (of which four are included in the demo version). Your scores on each of these will then be analyzed and you'll be given a rating (in my case it was 'Child'). You can then choose to hone your skills on any particular discipline by selecting one of the games to play. Don't worry if you've never played any of the games before because Spb Brain Evolution explains each one very well.

There are a couple of things that annoyed me about both game modes in Spb Brain Evolution. The first was that the total score isn't displayed on-screen as you play. The second is that you can only play the brain games twice a day or it won't affect your score.

The 'My Diary' section of Spb Brain Evolution allows you to check your progress over time, displaying a calendar that shows you your results, as well as a graph outlining changes. You can also check any awards you've picked up along the way - given for exceeding the expectations of your level.

All in all, Spb Brain Evolution offers a comprehensive and intelligently-designed brain training solution for your mobile.

Download Spb Brain Evolution 2.1 in Softonic

What's more, you don't even need a puzzle book to play it because there are so many versions of the game available for mobile devices.

Astraware's take on the format is very impressive and is actually one of the most well-executed I've seen anywhere. Obviously the scenario is the same as always - you have a 9 x 9 grid with a series of nine boxes and nine cells. You need to fill up all the cells with the numbers one to nine without repeating a number in any row, column or box.

But what's great about this game is the loving attention that's been given to its presentation. When you first start out, you're given an animated introduction to Sudoku, explaining all the rules in a succinct manner. You can then choose to start a new puzzle from the default ones built into the game, create your own puzzle, or download one from the Astraware site.

There are five difficulty levels to choose from, ranging from 'Beginner' to 'Diabolical,' which lets you develop your skills at your own pace. The in-game options are just as impressive. You can add pencil marks to assist you, get hints, change the display and set the level of assistance. Graphically, the game is tastefully presented and the board is very clear.

All in all, one of the best iPhone-based Sudoku games you'll find.

Download Astraware Sudoku 1.05 in Softonic

The controls are pretty easy to get to grips with. You use the ball to move to a square on the grid, then enter a number by typing it on the keypad or moving the ball up and down.

Magmic Sudoku features different game board styles for each of the levels, though with all of them you have the option to revert to a more classic style, from the in-game menu. You can also choose to show or hide conflict checks, skip givens, and toggle a dot system on and off.

In reality, Magmic Sudoku doesn't offer anything new or exciting to the Sudoku genre in terms of graphics or gameplay. It's worth noting also that this demo version is particularly short, lasting for just one day.

Magmic Sudoku will appeal to die-hard number fans, but essentially, this is a very average Sudoku game for BlackBerry.

Download Magmic Sudoku 1.0.11 in Softonic

Plop Art Sudoku Lite 1.0

I don't know about you but when I see a Sudoku grid it reminds me of horrible math exams which really puts me off playing. If you're as afraid of numbers as me then give Plop Art Sudoku a try.

It works in much the same way as classic Sudoku, only in Plop Art Sudoku the numbers are replaced by cute little creatures. For me, it made the game much easier and more enjoyable than the numeric version. All you need to do is tap on an empty space and then choose a character from the box at the top of the grid. If the character can fit there you'll get a messages saying 'Great'. If not, you'll have to try again.

There are 100 different puzzles to play in Plop Art Sudoku, so this is a game that will keep you hooked for some time. Unfortunately, you'll need to upgrade in order to play 99 of the puzzles because, rather stingily, only three levels are playable in this Lite version.

The graphics in Plop Art Sudoku are very bright and colorful, and the sound effects are fun too. The chirruping cricket noise that plays incessantly in the background does get pretty annoying though.

For kids, or anyone who prefers thinking in pictures rather than numbers, Plop Art Sudoku is worth investigating as an alternative to the popular puzzle game.

Download Plop Art Sudoku Lite 1.0 in Softonic

If you're as afraid of numbers as me then give Plop Art Sudoku a try.

It works in much the same way as classic Sudoku, only in Plop Art Sudoku the numbers are replaced by cute little creatures. For me, it made the game much easier and more enjoyable than the numeric version. All you need to do is tap on an empty space and then choose a character from the box at the top of the grid. If the character can fit there you'll get a messages saying 'Great'. If not, you'll have to try again.

There are four difficulty levels to choose from in Plop Art Sudoku, and 100 different puzzles to play, so this is a game that will keep you hooked for some time. Unfortunately, you'll need to upgrade in order to play 99 of the puzzles because, rather stingily, only one level is playable in this demo version.

The graphics in Plop Art Sudoku are very bright and colorful, and the sound effects are fun too. The game includes a high scores table, although you can't compete online with other Plop Art Sudoku players.

For kids, or anyone who prefers thinking in pictures rather than numbers, Plop Art Sudoku is worth investigating as an alternative to the popular puzzle game.

Download Plop Art Sudoku 1.1 in Softonic

SPB Brain Evolution 1.3 (S60 3rd)

If you fancy yourself as a bit of a brainbox then check out SPB Brain Evolution, which puts your gray matter to the test in a series of challenging puzzles.

SPB Brain Evolution is a comprehensive Brain Training suite, comprising of 10 different mini games, including the likes of Sudoku, memory, arithmetic, and minesweeper.

Download SPB Brain Evolution 1.3 (S60 3rd) in Softonic

Astraware Sudoku 1.50

I don't know when or where it was invented, but somehow Sudoku has come from nowhere to become one of the most popular ways to while away a bus journey. What's more, you don't even need a puzzle book to play it because there are so many versions of the game available for mobile phones.

You can then choose to start a new puzzle from the default ones built into the game, create your own puzzle, or download one from the Astraware site (you'll need to register for the full version to do this).

There are six difficulty levels to choose from, ranging from 'Beginner' to 'Diabolical,' which lets you develop your skills at your own pace. The in-game options are just as impressive. You can add pencilmarks to assist you, get hints, change the display and set the level of assistance.

Graphically, the game is tastefully presented and the board is very clear. There's even a clock and a battery indicator at the top to remind you not to lose track of things in the real world!

All in all, one of the best phone-based Sudoku games you'll find.

Download Astraware Sudoku 1.50 in Softonic
