eBuddy Mobile Messenger is great at what it does, but it's a shame it doesn't go quite as far as the likes of Nimbuzz or fring, which both offer VoIP as well as text chat. Even to have Skype text chat would've been a nice addition.

If all you want to do is send instant messages though, eBuddy Mobile Messenger makes it quick and easy to chat across different IM networks.

The program allows you to join the RockeTalk social network, where you can meet new friends, join communities, share photos and enter competitions. The RockeTalk app doubles as an IM client, with support for the Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, MSN and AOL networks.

You can create your own profile page in RockeTalk, personalizing it with images and information about yourself and your interests. You can then search the large community of RockeTalk users, viewing user profiles and adding people you think you might like.

The community itself has lots of members in India and South East Asia, and lots of the entertainment content is tailored to this market, so if you live in these areas you'll find RockeTalk particularly relevant.

You can send messages to your friends on RockeTalk. Not only can you write and add smileys, but you can also record voice messages and capture images from your phone's camera and share these on the message.

While there are lots of interesting social features in RockeTalk, the presentation of the application leaves a lot to be desired. The main page of the program is ugly and old fashioned. The instant messaging client in RockeTalk is very cumbersome in comparison with apps such as Nimbuzz and fring.
