Use shortcuts

Like any good program, WhatsApp Web has its own shortcuts to streamline processes. The list of the main ones are shown below:

• Ctrl + N: start a new conversation
• Ctrl + Shift + ]: next chat
• Ctrl + Shift + [: previous chat
• Ctrl + E: archive chat
• Ctrl + Shift + M: mute chat
• Ctrl + Backspace: delete chat

Mute notifications

This is one of the secrets of WhatsApp Web that few people know about: you can turn off notifications. Though enabled by default, you can prevent yourself from getting annoyed while the program is open.

To do this, just click on the three dots to open the options menu and select “Settings.” Once inside, the first box is the one we want: “Notifications.” Click there and turn off sounds and desktop alerts. This way, nothing will appear on your screen again.

Use multiple accounts

If you use WhatsApp Web, you may think that to log into an account, you have to log out of another, right? Nope! You can use multiple profiles at the same time. In fact, the solution is so simple it’s scary. Just open an incognito window and a tab for WhatsApp Web. Scan the QR code again and you’ll get access to your contacts.

Read messages without the blue checkmark

Google Chrome has an awesome extension: WAToolkit.  It has many variations but there are two that rise above the rest: having notifications in the background and letting you see full-length messages.

With the first you can get notifications in the background. So, when we’re on Google Chrome, we can see who has written to us at the top (you must have WhatsApp notifications enabled). The second lets you read full-length messages.

More speed, louder volume

We’ll wrap up this article with a Google Chrome extension that can help you out: Zapp. This is an app that lets you turn up the volume of recorded voice messages (typically low volume) using your PC microphone. Likewise, it also doubles the speed of received voice message files (so it won’t take forever to listen to a 10-minute audio message that your friend sent you).
