8 of the 10 most popular YouTube channels are gaming related! Of the two that aren’t: one’s a Brazilian rant-vlogger (have to admit, he’s pretty fun to watch even if you don’t speak the language), and the other is DudePerfect. Enough said.

youtube gaming

Why so many gamers? We have a theory, a deep-seated belief: video game YouTubers make us feel like we’re hanging out with friends. There’s no better gaming experience than a night with the squad, and these creators provide that feeling. It’s what makes us keep coming back for more!

If you’re looking for the next thing in gaming or just want to watch a fun video, check out these awesome channels. [WARNING: gore, language, vulgarity, and absurdity warning for many videos to follow]

Best video game YouTube channels

Pewdiepie

Gotta start with Pewds.

Pewdiepie drove YouTube gaming to the top charts with his singular, unprecedented take on the genre. Nowadays, he occasionally puts out video-game related content, but he’s spending more time away from the studio and his featured videos are often tied to real-life themes. However, they never lost the humor and fun!

Long story short, nobody is Pewdiepie.

Videogamedunkey

Dunkey’s videos contain all the hilarity and fun you’d expect from a good gaming channel, but it’s far more than that. The channel rates new games in a clear and effective way, which makes every video feel both informative and entertaining.

Of course, there are purely nonsensical clips, like the “Ultimate Skyrim” episode.

Game Grumps

Tired of all those channels skipping gameplay to get to the best parts? Sometimes, you just want the whole thing in one big playthrough…

Try the Game Grumps! Alongside a number of compilations and animated shorts, this channel features (mainly) Arin and Dan as they journey through video games from start to finish. If you want to see all of Breath of the Wild, Resident Evil, or Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, these guys have the goods!

ProZD

True: ProZD doesn’t play games on the channel, yes. However, his videos make fun of tropes that all pop culture enthusiasts will recognize: stop by for witty, one-minute clips on the absurdities of open world games, bad mechanics, RPG clothes, and more!

Markiplier

Gaming channels, at their heart, are founded upon the personality of the creator. Markiplier excels at engaging the audience!

His most popular videos cover games in the jumpscare department, but often extend beyond. If that’s your jam, look no further.

Smosh Games

You know Honest Trailers? Surprisingly, that’s not the name of the actual channel. It’s SMOSH!

There’s nothing like a good Honest Trailer to remind us of the inane inconsistencies in popular video games, all to the tune of that AWESOME VOICE. If there was a word to describe Smosh Games it would be “bingeable.”

Alright, that’s not a word, but it fits.

Final Words

Admittedly, if you search for “Top Video Game YouTube Channels” on Google, you’ll realize many of these channels don’t score high in terms of subscribers. Partially, that’s because the biggest gamers focus on clip videos: all the funniest bits strung together (Pewdiepie’s forte). However, we included channels like Game Grumps because of their excellent full playthrough, and Dunkview for the thorough and refreshing reviews.

There are still more top-level channels we didn’t mention, including a good number that aren’t in English! Since we’d be remiss not to mention them, check out:

  1. elrubiusOMG
  2. Fernanfloo
  3. JuegaGerman
  4. VanossGaming
  5. Jacksepticeye

Have fun, and enjoy the videos!
