A remaster of Dead Rising 2? Please and thank you!

Although some may not believe it, there was a time long ago when the world of video games was not governed by “games as a service” and endless seasons, but rather by titles with a story that began and ended, with characters that had a script and evolved along the way. This was the case with Dead Rising, a zombie franchise that had been forgotten by Capcom for eight years, until they decided to return with the remaster of the first part. The result? Fabulous. So much so that they now want to accelerate the production of more titles by any means. Yes: Frank West has made a grand comeback.

He wasn’t dead, no, no

The developers at Capcom are already hinting that there will be a future remaster of Dead Rising 2 that will look like Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (DRDR for friends). It is worth remembering that back in the day, the game was somewhat controversial because it replaced Frank with another character, Chuck Greene, and Capcom ended up creating an alternative version (Off The Record), with everyone’s favorite journalist as the protagonist. Now, Jas Patrick, who has voiced Frank West in the new remaster, has asked fans on social media if they want a new version of Off the Record.

For now, the developers are waiting to see how DRDR performs, but initially, they believe that it is “definitely possible” for the sequel to have a new opportunity. Capcom will consider it if “they identify an appropriate time when we can sell it.” Not only that: the developer intends to revive the saga again, first testing if the audience is still there and then, very likely, launching new installments.

For now, everything is speculative, but if you were eager for the undead to invade your console again so you can kill them in waves in the most fun and creative ways possible, you’re in luck. Let the slaughter return.
