Adam Driver: Kevin Feige now confirms Marvel has tried for years

Kevin Feige has now said plainly what Marvel casting rumors have hinted at for years: the studio has tried more than once to bring Adam Driver into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige confirmed that on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

On the podcast, Feige said, “It’s no secret that we’d like to [work with Adam],” and added that Marvel has a “tradition” of Zooming with Driver before he passes on a role. He also said Driver is “usually up front” about how he feels.

The biggest rumor tied him to Reed Richards in Fantastic Four. Earlier reports said Driver met with Marvel, was a frontrunner, and later passed because he “couldn’t connect with the character on the page.” Feige’s comments now make it clear that talks did happen in some form.

If you follow Marvel casting rumors, here’s the part to separate from the rest: none of the X-Men reports linking Adam Driver to Magneto, Mister Sinister, or William Stryker has been confirmed by Marvel Studios.

Still, a lot of fans see Driver as a natural fit for the MCU, and Feige’s comments make the pattern pretty easy to read. Marvel reaches out, Driver considers it, and then passes, while the studio keeps building around Fantastic Four, X-Men, and its next crossover movies.
