Since Sam Altman introduced ChatGPT in November 2022, Artificial Intelligence continues to amaze us with new features and applications. It no longer just includes intelligent chatbots that answer any question in seconds, but it is a technology that is integrating into the daily lives of dozens of jobs. From coding as a programmer to drafting emails, its applications seem almost endless.
In this context, the one who seems to have understood the upcoming landscape best is Adobe. The software company is applying AI in more and more programs, and in innovative ways that make the lives of designers, editors, animators, etc. much easier. The latest of these revolutionary applications comes with Premiere Pro, the quintessential video editor: it is Media Intelligence.
Adobe Premiere Pro is becoming the essential ally for video editors
Media Intelligence is a new feature in Premiere that allows you to perform semantic searches on video clips using natural language. In other words, it identifies what you need in seconds and helps you pinpoint specific scenes in seconds, without the need for manual tagging or cloud connections.
Media Intelligence applies Artificial Intelligence to automatically analyze the clips imported into Premiere Pro. As soon as you add the clips, it generates a kind of “concept map” of the visual content of these videos. In this way, within seconds it identifies what appears in the videos: objects, locations, lighting, types of shots, situations, etc. And all of this is turned into metadata that you can then consult through the application itself.
Thanks to Media Intelligence, you can search for anything without going crazy looking at clip by clip. Moreover, it does all of this at a local level, so you don’t need a connection or have any clips uploaded to the cloud. AI is already integrated into the base software.
Artificial Intelligence at the service of editors
There are all kinds of examples where this AI can be used. From entering phrases like “woman in a red jacket walking on the beach” or “close-up of hands typing on a computer” to asking it “show the moment when the girl doesn’t stutter while speaking” to choose the perfect clip you are looking for for every occasion.
The best part is that it is not about OCR or facial recognition, but rather a conceptual interpretation that goes beyond and uses training to continuously improve the formula. Anyone who has worked with large volumes of footage—from documentary productions to interviews, advertising, or television—knows the madness that can be finding a specific shot. But, thanks to Media Intelligence, you will be able to edit your videos faster and more effectively.

On the other hand, the fact that everything works locally makes users feel more at ease with their privacy. In a context where the use of artificial intelligence raises growing concerns about privacy and data usage, Adobe warns that Media Intelligence only works within each individual project, a privacy guarantee that is increasingly sought after.
Media Intelligence is not just a technical improvement of Premiere: it is a substantial advancement that can change the way we edit videos. Thanks to this and other applications, Adobe is making giant strides to save the work of editors and animators, making it increasingly easier to achieve great results in just a few minutes. Although editing programs had stagnated in their functions during the 2010s, thanks to AI they are now adding more and more incredible features that are changing the landscape. Finally, editors will be able to stop spending hours and hours selecting every detail to focus on more creative and fun tasks.
