After giving Kojima the boot, Sony announces the playtest for the game you’d least expect

The playtesting platform Player.gg has received exclusive access, according to its own description of it, “to a closed playtest of an unannounced competitive action shooter, codenamed Project Espresso, which is being developed by a AAA studio”. It appears to be Fairgame$, a live-service game from Haven Interactive Studios, a second-party PlayStation studio that was announced in 2023 and about which we still knew nothing.

A game that’s been cooking for years

According to what we can tell from the description, “Project Espresso is a competitive third-person shooter action game (PvPvE), where rival teams compete to infiltrate high-security locations, steal valuable cargo, and escape before their opponents”. But as some recent leaks suggest, it’s likely that Fairgame$ has undergone a rebranding and that, when it is finally announced, it will be known as Break In.

With a trailer and a handful of screenshots, this is the first official look at a game that has already been announced for several years and we still haven’t seen. Which has also survived several PlayStation purges. Including the most recent one, which ended with the cancellation of Hideo Kojima’s latest game, Physint, which will ultimately be published by Xbox. Something that will no doubt generate controversy.
