Alien and Aliens arrived on Netflix in the U.S. today, September 1, 2026. That brings Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror landmark to the service alongside James Cameron’s 1986 follow-up, Aliens.
Netflix’s latest monthly refresh now puts the franchise’s two most celebrated chapters in one place:
Alien follows the seven-person crew of the Nostromo after a distress signal leads them straight to the xenomorph. Nearly 50 years later, Scott’s film still holds up because of its claustrophobic haunted-house-in-space setup, its practical effects, its slow-building suspense, and the way it threads survival, bodily violation, and corporate greed through the story.
Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley is the center of it, with Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Yaphet Kotto, and Bolaji Badejo around her. That cast helped make H.R. Giger’s biomechanical monster one of the most recognizable creatures in movie history, and if you want the series at its best, this Netflix drop is well worth jumping on.
You can stream Alien and Aliens on Netflix in the U.S. now. Availability still varies by region, though, and countries like Canada and Australia may have different Alien titles on other services, even with newer entries like Alien: Romulus and Alien: Earth keeping the franchise active.
