icloud iconCyber security is becoming more of a serious issue every day. Even big companies like Evernote and Twitter have had their sites hacked. Apple is finally stepping up their security for iCloud and Apple IDs by introducing two-step verification.

It works is similar to what Google and Dropbox have implemented. Users will have to log into the Apple ID site and set up two-step verification. Once you’ve turned the feature on, Apple will send a verification code to one of your devices, which must be entered whenever users want to make changes to sensitive data. During the set up process, users will also be given a recovery key as a fail-safe, which they will need to reset passwords in case a trusted device is out of reach.

This security measure comes seven months after the hacking of Wired editor, Mat Honan, whose identity was stolen in part because of Apple’s lax security measures.
