Apple has recently updated its iPad Pro lineup with the new M2 processor, which offers improved performance and longer battery life. While the changes in the last update were relatively small, Apple is planning to make more significant changes to the iPad Pro in 2024. The design of the iPad Pro has remained the same since 2018, with only minor exterior updates made so far.
According to Mark Gurman, a well-known Apple analyst, in his recent newsletter, the company is planning to release a “major iPad Pro revamp” in 2024. This year, the company is only expected to make minor changes to the iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini 6. If these rumors are true, Apple could unveil the revamped iPad Pro as early as Spring of 2024, which could include a complete redesign and the use of OLED display technology.
‘I don’t see any major updates coming in 2023 to the entry-level models, the iPad mini or the Air. The iPad Pro for sure isn’t getting anything of note this year. Instead, look for a major iPad Pro revamp next spring, complete with an updated design and OLED screens for the first time.’
The current iPad Pro has a unibody construction and thinner bezels than previous versions. If rumors are anything to go by, the 2024 iPad Pro is going to be even more advanced. There have been reports suggesting that the iPad Pro set to be released in 2024 may have a glass back and incorporate MagSafe charging, similar to the technology used in recent iPhone models.
In addition to the rumored design changes, Apple is also said to be in the process of transitioning to OLED displays. Reports suggest that the company is developing its own OLED displays for future iPad and MacBook models, with the switch away from Samsung expected to occur in 2024 and 2026, respectively. Furthermore, a display analyst has stated that the 2024 iPad Pro models will have a screen size of 11.1 inches and 13 inches.
We’ll keep you updated as more information filters in, but we have every reason to believe that the next generation of the iPad Pro is going to be something quite revolutionary.
