Apple has announced the latest addition to its high-end headphone lineup, the Beats Studio Pro. Released at a price of $350, these fourth-generation headphones come 15 years after Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine launched the Beats brand with the original Studio model and represent one of the most significant advancements in Beats headphones.

The new Beats Studio Pro retains the iconic design of its predecessor but comes with a completely revamped focus on five key areas: sound quality, voice performance, comfort/durability, connectivity, and ecosystem compatibility.

An evolution for even better Beats

In terms of sound quality, the Beats Studio Pro incorporate much of Apple’s latest technology. They offer support for Custom Spatial Audio with built-in accelerometer and gyroscope for dynamic head tracking, adaptive noise cancellation with a dedicated processor and improved microphones, and a new transducer design with a customized 40mm driver that provides 80% less distortion compared to the previous generation of Studio headphones.

The Beats Studio Pro offers three connectivity options: Bluetooth, USB-C supporting lossless audio and the ability to listen and charge simultaneously, and a 3.5mm analog connector to provide maximum compatibility with audio devices.

These headphones also feature a familiar design, with a padded headband, a foldable design for portability, and memory foam ear cushions. While they do not have an official sweat or water resistance rating, Beats claims that the Studio Pro can withstand workouts and similar exposures.

Regarding the controls, most of them are located on the left earcup. The Beats “b” button provides the usual functions such as play/pause, answer calls, skip tracks, and activate Siri with a long press. The right earcup retains the small power button for turning the headphones on and off, entering pairing mode, and switching between available sound profiles.

With the aim of providing the highest compatibility between Apple and Android ecosystems, the Beats Studio Pro feature a custom Beats chip instead of a dedicated Apple chip. This includes iOS features such as one-tap pairing and compatibility with the Find My network. As for battery life, the Beats Studio Pro offers an estimated 24 hours of runtime with ANC or Transparency mode activated, and up to 40 hours with these features disabled.
