Apple quietly discontinued the iOS Cards app yesterday after its iOS 7 event. The app debuted in 2011 and allowed customers to create personalized greeting cards on their phone. Cards was meant to be an extension of the personalized photo album and greeting card creator inside of iPhoto. It’s still possible to order personalized cards and photo albums from within iPhoto but iOS users can no longer create them on the go.

Cards users trying to access the app will be greeted with an error message that reads “The Cards service is no longer available.” An Apple support document verifies that the Cards app is now discontinued, though the app itself is still available to download in the App Store at the time of this writing. Apple advises users use iPhoto on the Mac to order cards and have them shipped via FedEx. Unfortunately iOS users with Windows machines are out of luck.
