Assassin’s Creed Animus is official: Bayek returns, but in a board game

Ubisoft has announced Assassin’s Creed Animus, an official board game made with Mantic Games, and Bayek of Siwa is back as a playable character.

This isn’t a new console or PC release. It’s a 1-4 player competitive asymmetric tabletop game built around stealth, exploration, assassination, and rivalry.

It covers as many as 10 historical settings and features Assassins including Altaïr, Ezio, Connor, Edward, Arno, Jacob, Bayek, Kassandra, Eivor, and Naoe. Bayek is part of the lineup, though his exact abilities are still being kept under wraps ahead of release, according to the Kickstarter campaign page.

That same Kickstarter page says the campaign has pulled in £274,425. The £65 Initiate tier covered six eras, while the Early Bird Master Assassin tier expanded that to as many as 10 eras, including Assassin’s Creed Origins and Bayek.

If you’re still invested in Bayek, this looks like one to pick up when it arrives. Assassin’s Creed Origins is still one of the most praised entries in the series, and Bayek’s story with Aya in Cleopatra’s Egypt, after the death of their son, matters because it sets up the Hidden Ones, the group that later becomes the Assassin Brotherhood, along with its long war against the Templars.

That’s why fans are still asking Ubisoft for more of Bayek’s story.

You can follow Assassin’s Creed Animus on its Kickstarter campaign page, where shipping is currently expected in October 2026.
