The Assassin’s Creed: Unity rumors are piling up, and this time it’s four-player co-operative play. This year’s entry into the huge action-adventure franchise may have a story mode where four people can play together.

According to The Escapist, publisher Ubisoft will show two Assassin’s Creed: Unity trailers at this year’s E3 conference in Los Angeles. One will show us the single player campaign, while the other will present a four-player co-op mode.

Last year’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was very well received, with its excellent naval battles and pirate theme. But with its annual release schedule, the series is constantly in danger of stagnation. A four player co-op mode could be this year’s big innovation that keeps the series interesting.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be set during the French revolution, and we know at least part of the game will be set in Paris, a location rich in exactly the kind of history that Assassin’s Creed lives on.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity is expected on PC and next-gen consoles this fall.
