If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that James Cameron is an ultra-fan of re-releases. Titanic has been re-released in theaters over and over again throughout its 26-year history, and the same has happened with Avatar, which even had a second release before the release of Avatar: The Way of Water.

But what we didn’t expect so soon is that Avatar 2 would be re-released just a few months after its official release. Coinciding with Earth Day, which is celebrated on April 22, the film directed by Cameron returns to theaters around the world. Undoubtedly, the theme could not be more justified, although if it were the day of the water it would already be something round.

Impressive box office

This new theatrical release will help the film continue to strike gold. It is currently already the third biggest hit in movie history, pulling in $2.7 billion worldwide, and is only $200 million behind the original Avatar, which is first.

According to Deadline, the film has brought in $531.7 million in earnings, after subtracting production and promotional costs. Thus, despite all it has cost, it has become a huge success and sequels are assured to follow.

In the meantime, we are still waiting for its arrival on platforms, and the premiere could delay it. We know that it will arrive earlier with a purchase option on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, but its premiere on Disney Plus, the platform where it will end up becoming a spin-off, is still a mystery.
