Avengers: Doomsday trailer is here: Captain Hydra theory grows over Chris Evans return

Marvel has finally dropped the first substantial footage from Avengers: Doomsday, giving fans their first real look at Marvel Studios’ next Avengers movie and immediately setting off talk that Chris Evans might come back as Captain Hydra.

That rumor picked up steam after reports claimed multiple roles , Captain Hydra among them, although Marvel still hasn’t confirmed Evans is in the film at all.

If you’ve been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the theory isn’t hard to buy. Avengers: Doomsday is said to pull together the main MCU , the Fantastic Four universe, and the Fox X-Men timeline, so a darker version of Captain America would keep Avengers: Endgame intact and hit a lot harder than a quick Steve Rogers cameo.

Fans are also reading this as a sign that Doctor Doom could defeat Earth’s heroes in this movie before Avengers: Secret Wars arrives in December 2027. The footage, according to early reactions, gives Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom a European accent that sounds more like Latveria than some evil Tony Stark variant.

Marvel has locked in December 18, 2026 release date, but Chris Evans, Captain Hydra, and most of the plot are still unconfirmed. If you keep up with Marvel trailers, this one is probably worth your time. The footage is already online ahead of its theatrical release.
