Sometimes $2.7 billion just isn’t enough.

Endgame

President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige revealed that “Avengers: Endgame” will be re-released in theaters next week with more footage. This includes an end-credit scene.

“Endgame” is a little less than $50 million away from toppling “Avatar” for the title of the highest-grossing film of all time. The move by Marvel appears to be a last-ditch effort to take the crown.

What is the footage/is it worth sitting through the movie again?

Feige did not tell us what we will see in the new footage. However, footage from the set of “Avengers: Endgame” hints at additional scenes of Iron Man and Doctor Strange.

If all we are going to see is a few comedic scenes of the duo, paying $10-$15 for a ticket to see the 3-hour-long movie again hardly seems worth it.

However, there are things that we would like to see:

  • Show us how Thanos was able to travel through time. Nebula had to use her Pym Particles and time ring to travel back to the present, so how did Thanos bring himself let alone his entire army? Give us just a quick scene explaining this, and we’ll be happy. Seriously, this one has been bugging us.
  • Show more than five minutes of Captain Marvel. We only got to see her briefly in the beginning and at the end. Just a little more time with her would’ve been nice.
  • Give us another action scene. Aside from a brief Cap-on-Cap tussle, the movie only has one major fight scene. If we had another in the middle of the film, it would dramatically help the pacing.
  • Give us a better idea of everyone who was snapped, and who wasn’t. We can make some assumptions about those who did die, but we’re a bit clueless on some others. It seems that Marvel didn’t want to keep anyone alive that they weren’t comfortable with aging for five years. However, did Aunt May have to live five years without knowing what happened to Peter? Did someone else become the Black Panther or become Wakanda’s king while T’Challa was dead? What happened to the governments of the world? Come on, Marvel! Give us an answer!

If Marvel gives us just one of these things, we can condone buying another ticket.

What can we expect from the end-credit scene?

Endgame Thor

We’re going to assume that whatever major plot point for the future of the MCU will be revealed in the end-credit scene for “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” That movie has been in the works for a while, and this move appears to be a relatively quick decision.

However, we might still get something cool that hints at the potential future for the MCU after Endgame. We don’t expect to see Wolverine walk on screen and talk about the X-Men initiative, but we might get a first look at another new project.

So should we see it again?

If you are a hardcore Marvel fan, you should go see it, but with low expectations. Remember, if there was an earth-shattering plot point that made the movie better, they would have put it in the original release.

If you’re a moderate fan, you probably don’t need to see the movie a second time. In this case, we’d recommend just waiting for the deleted scenes to drop on YouTube.
