Avira is bringing its Protection Cloud and Browser Safety features to Avira Free Antivirus for Windows. Both features were previously only available in its premium security suites. It has also enhanced the features of Avira Free Mac Security.
Avira Protection Cloud gives Windows users ‘real-time detection of zero-day threats’, which essentially means as soon as Avira is aware of a threat, your PC will be too. More changes are the removal of ‘the notifier’, which served pop up ads to free users, and the end of toolbars, so you’ll have more browser space.
Avira has also added its Browser Safety features. Currently available for Chrome, but coming soon for Firefox and Internet Explorer, this adds safety ratings to search results, so you can see if a link will take you to a reputable site or not. You’ll also get a browser tracking blocker, which stops sites and companies from tracking your online behavior.
Similar to AVG’s new Zen apps, Avira’s ‘Online Essentials‘ gives you a dashboard to manage security on different devices from your PC.
Avira Free Antivirus is available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.
