BlackBerry is continuing its assault on the messaging world by bringing its BBM app to Windows Phone this summer. The company recently updated its iOS and Android apps with stickers, free internet calling, and additional features. Windows Phone users will finally be able to jump on the BBM bandwagon this summer.

BlackBerry promises to bring the same functionality seen in BBM for Android and iOS to Windows Phone right from the start. Many times, launching on a new operating system leaves out a lot of features but fortunately this is not the case for BBM for Windows Phone.

Although stickers, internet calling, and read receipts are included in just about every messaging app nowadays, BlackBerry hopes to differentiate itself with BMM Channels and Groups. BBM groups allows up to 50 people to chat simultaneously while Channels allows BBM users with similar interests to connect.

BlackBerry will have to act quickly if it wishes to stay competitive in the messaging app game. With Facebook’s pending $16 billion purchase of WhatsApp, the company may be able to ride the surge in interest for mobile messaging apps.
