One of Netflix’s worst practices is the regular cancellation of its series. Despite their success, the platform does not take a second to cancel its productions, and that causes a large part of its audience to become disillusioned. There have been serious cases of this as with Sense8 or The OA, but there is another one that hurt even more because of the good quality it had: Mindhunter.
Under the baton of David Fincher, one of the best directors in the history of cinema, Mindhunter had two full seasons that delighted crime and thriller fans. However, after its second premiere in 2019, Netflix shut down the project and we haven’t heard anything more since. But is there a chance of a third season? As we see in the video below, it would be very interesting.
Farewell to Mindhunter
Although everything seemed to indicate that Netflix would think again and continue betting on one of the series that have given them the best brand, it seems that there will be no luck for fans of Mindhunter. In an interview for Le Journal Du Dimanche, Fincher was asked about the series, and his answer could not have been clearer:
“I’m very proud of the first two seasons. But it’s a very expensive series and, in Netflix’s eyes, we didn’t attract enough of an audience to justify the investment. I don’t blame them, they took risks to get the series off the ground, gave me the means to make Mank the way I wanted, and allowed me to venture down new paths with The Killer. It’s an opportunity to work with people who are capable of daring. The day our desires aren’t the same, we’ll have to be honest and go our separate ways.”

So, no, we won’t continue to see the adventures of Holden Ford and Bill Tench on Netflix. On the other hand, we will continue to see many premieres that go unnoticed and nobody likes… although, well, at least we have the One Piece live action just around the corner.
