Those of us who love basketball have an unmissable date this weekend: the NBA All-Star Game. Yes, it is more show than competition as such, but it is a weekend to enjoy basketball, to see the best players of the competition divided between two teams, as well as skills, three-pointers and dunks contests.

At Softonic we want you to warm up your wrist -or thumbs, rather- with the best basketball video games to celebrate the NBA All-Star. I’m sure someone sounds familiar to you…

NBA 2K23

We couldn’t start this article with any other than this one, could we? NBA 2K23 is the video game par excellence when talking about ba-lon-ces-to (as our beloved Pepu Hernández would say). 2K Games has been refining the formula for so many years that it has remained alone in the market, since Electronic Arts ceased its attempts with NBA Live.

Of course, in NBA 2K23 we will have all the NBA teams in full, with their templates updated to date and faithfully recreated faces for each player. Likewise, it incorporates countless game modes, including the possibility of touring The City, the playground where we will have the opportunity to do do dozens of tasks with our created player. The rest is that you are good at throwing the ball, although that no longer depends on us (and you know it).

NBA Live Mobile

While on consoles and PCs there is an absolute lack of competition, the same is not true for smartphones. On mobile terminals there is an NBA Live Mobile developed by Electronic Arts, and it is in good health, to such an extent that it has accumulated more than 100 million downloads on the Google Play Store with its constant updates.

In this game we have again all the NBA license, from players to jerseys or the most recognizable courts. It’s time to make our dream draft and create the lineup. From here, you have an intuitive gameplay system typical of the smartphone, so you will not find many difficulties.

NBA 2K Mobile

After talking about the Electronic Arts game, now we jump back to the 2K Games game, but this time with its NBA 2K Mobile version. As its name suggests, here we have the smartphone version of the popular basketball simulator.

The version for cell phones is like a “miniature” edition of the one we have on consoles or PC. In other words, we have licenses, players, cards and everything related to the game, but in a more limited version. We warn you: the games are very fast and the control is very well integrated, so you will be very grateful.

NBA Clash

The “Jam” versions of NBA games have been with us for some time now. Behind them lies a lighthearted edition of basketball. It’s as if Space Jam meets real basketball and a game is created for it. With NBA Clash for smartphones we have just that.

In games with a very colorful tone, the goal is to score as many points as possible, but with a lot of style behind and doing crazy things. There are dunks, jumpshots from more than 10 meters, blocks where you’re going to leave the opponent and much more. It’s more of a show than anything else, but that’s why we’re talking about the All-Star game, right?

NBA Supercard

We close this article with a card game based on the NBA: NBA Supercard. As you can imagine, the title uses the card system that we have seen in NBA 2K23 or the FIFA saga to create our dream team. The cards of these players must work with each other, so you have to be very attentive to their stats so that everything fits together.

The most attractive aspect of the game is not only the synergies that are created, but also the designs that they provide. They are eye-catching and look great on the smartphone screen, something that is appreciated. The worst thing, obviously, is its aggressive monetization.

Which of all the games mentioned in this article do you prefer? Would you recommend any other game to spend the weekend with?
