Blizzard is about to officially launch the Midnight expansion of World of Warcraft on March 2, a highly anticipated event that will introduce the new housing feature in the popular MMORPG. However, as the community prepares for this new content, concerns have already arisen regarding the usefulness of the presented features. Some players have expressed that the housing feature seems to lack relevant functionalities compared to other MMO experiences, such as The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO).
Blizzard does not want to wait to see if the housing system works
In an attempt to address these concerns, Blizzard has announced that it will release several updates in the weeks following the launch. They will focus on improving aspects such as the storage of decorations and their removal, as well as resolving some technical issues, such as a furniture rotation bug that affects the home experience. Housing is a perennial feature that we will continue to build and iterate on, Blizzard stated in a post on February 24, seeking to receive early feedback from players on these new features.
Despite these promises, many in the community fear that once raids and difficult missions begin, the burden of customizing their homes may take a back seat. Some comments in the forums suggest the need for truly useful content that encourages players to use their spaces, asking, for example, for more interactions and elements that make the housing function attractive.
On the horizon, the arrival of a visitor code is also anticipated so that players can invite friends to their homes, as well as the addition of pets as decoration. As Blizzard prepares for a potential shift in the game meta due to Midnight, the company is also implementing more than a month of balance patches to ensure that the new expansion integrates smoothly into the overall World of Warcraft experience.
