*Bourbon & Lies* enters TV development at Amazon: Stallone backs adaptation

Bourbon & Lies, based on Victoria Wilder’s bestselling Bourbon Boys trilogy and borrowing the title of the first novel, has officially moved into TV development at Amazon MGM Studios and Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions.

Meredith Lavender and Marcie Ulin, who ran season one of The Flight Attendant, are on board to create the series and executive produce it. Sophia Stallone is producing through Callisto Media. Amazon MGM Studios and Balboa Productions still haven’t shared any casting news or a release window, which tells you this one is very much in the early stages.

The story is set in the fictional town of Fiasco, Kentucky. It centers on a former police officer and a mysterious woman whose romance pulls the reader into secrets, danger, and that Southern gothic blend of crime and small-town suspense. On Goodreads, the first book holds a 4.03 rating from more than 72,000 reviews.

If romantic suspense adaptations with a ready-made fan base are your thing, this one’s worth keeping an eye on. For Amazon MGM Studios, it also lines up with a wider push to turn recognizable books into series, while Balboa Productions keeps building out its TV slate after Tulsa King under its renewed January 2026 first-look deal.
