Although we’re all waiting for GTA 6, there’s life beyond GTA. The good folks at Rockstar Games have taken care of other highly popular franchises that we shouldn’t overlook either. And we’re not just talking about Red Dead Redemption. Because, even though we sometimes seem to forget, they have one cult game that, unfortunately for its many fans, has gone more unnoticed in recent years. We’re not talking about any other game but the legendary Bully.
Now, there are indications that Bully 2 might have been a reality at some point. This discovery stems from a person who found several references to the game within the code of GTA 5.
To explain this, it’s crucial to understand that video game databases often contain unused information—abandoned concepts, bits of code from other projects, and various types of data. Recently, a file from the GTA 5 database was leaked, and a Twitter user named @billsyliamgta found a line of code referencing GTA 4, Midnight Club Los Angeles, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Bully 2.
This confirms that, at the very least, work has been done on the game at some point. As @billsyliamgta himself points out, the file contains content that was discarded and later repurposed for GTA Online, such as the use of jetpacks.
We know that initially, Rockstar’s co-founder Dan Houser wrote a script for a Bully sequel back in 2008. Additionally, during 2019, there was development on the game, but after 18 months, it was canceled. While this sequel was never officially announced, this seems to confirm that indeed, at least at one time, Bully 2 did exist.
