Creating series about real crimes is becoming increasingly common, and it certainly works when the story is compelling. Netflix is well aware of this, and they have announced the production of “Burning Body,” a series that tells a dramatic story dating back to 2017 in Barcelona. The series will be starring Quim Gutiérrez and Úrsula Corberó.

The series has just been announced through a short teaser trailer, and it is set to premiere on September 8, 2023. The cast also includes José Manuel Poga, Isak Férriz, and Eva Llorach as key assets of the miniseries produced by Arcadia Motion Pictures and written by Laura Sarmiento (Intimacy).

A miniseries centered on the Urban Guard Crime

The series focuses on the story of the so-called “The Urban Guard Crime” which kept Spaniards on edge for several months. The protagonists are Rosa Peral (Corberó) and Albert López (Gutiérrez), who portray two officers from the Guardia Urbana who became the main suspects in the murder of Pedro Rodríguez, a man found burnt in a reservoir in the province of Barcelona.

The real story is already captivating in itself: it involves betrayals, police officers implicated in the murder, surprising plot twists, and an enveloping mystery. Told with the thrilling tone that this series seems to have, it’s clear that it will hook many fans of the genre. And if we add the performances of the lead actors to that, it might become the next big Spanish hit on Netflix after Money Heist and Elite.
