Call of Duty: Black Ops lands on PlayStation 4 and 5, with a couple of big caveats
They’re unchanged ports sold again, without PS4/PS5 cross-play

Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II are now available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. This release had already been rumored, but it has now been officially released for €39.99 each, with a launch discount of €19.99 for PlayStation Plus subscribers until August 6.
A very questionable version
But this release has a catch. Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II were released respectively in 2010 and 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC and are available to play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through their backward compatibility features. Because PlayStation 4 and 5 don’t have backward compatibility they weren’t available, and now Activision have re-released them, which means you have to buy them again if you want to replay them.
This isn’t a remaster or a remake. They don’t have any kind of new functionality. They’re the original games ported to PlayStation 4 and 5 without any changes and without including the DLC, which are sold in a separate season pass for an extra €30.
What’s more, there is no cross-play between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. You can only play with people on the same console version, which probably makes this the worst version of the game so far. This shows the danger of the death of physical media that PlayStation has announced is coming starting in 2028.
