Along with new online multiplayer modes in Call of Duty: Ghosts like “Cranked” and “Search and Rescue”, Infinity Ward announced that there will be a focus on utilizing your created squad for battle against friends, enemies, and the game’s improved A.I. The best part of these modes is that you are still able to earn XP.

The four different modes include 1-on-1 battles, called Squad versus Squad, where you and five of your created soldiers go against another player online and five of their squad members.

Wargame is a mode where you and five squad members fight against a full squad of bots based off the data from Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer. These bots will use strategy that is common with some of the top players so expect a challenge.

Safeguard is a wave-based mode. You and your squad survive against oncoming enemies.

The last is Squad Assault. This mode allows you to team up with five other players and fight against a six member A.I. squad composed by a member of the team. This allows you to test your teamwork ability with other real life players. It’s possible this will be a good testing ground for new strategy by clans. Squad Assault will also support A.I. squad members if you can’t find other players online.

The squad modes are beginning to overshadow the regular multiplayer in Call of Duty: Ghosts. With the ability to earn XP and unlocks outside of normal multiplayer modes, these modes are good for testing loadouts and strategy.
