Make note of this name, as it’s going to make it into the list of the most played video games of 2023 (and we didn’t have it on our radar): CarX Street. Behind this title lies one of the best driving video games we’ve tried on a smartphone. We’re serious: it’s amazing how good it looks.
Today on Softonic, we’re going to explain what it is, how to download CarXStreet and how to play (some basic tips). Take some notes.
What is CarX Street?
CarX Street is a mobile game (currently only available on iOS, we will go into detail about this later) that has been among the most downloaded on the Apple Store in recent weeks.
The title is being developed by CarX Technologies, a Russian company that has a lot of experience in the world of driving. In fact, among their credits are games such as CarX Drift Racing 2, CarX Drift Racing Online, CarX Highway Racing, and CarX Rally. Although they may sound unfamiliar to many, here’s a fact: together, all of these games have accumulated over 120 million downloads, with an average of one million players per day (who start one of these games at some point). Not bad.
How to download CarX Street
Let’s move on to the most interesting point of the article for newcomers: how to download CarX Street. Although until recently it was only available for a select few, Apple users can now download the game without a problem on their iPhone and iPad, all completely in Spanish and for free. Now, what about Android?
According to a message from the developer, CarX Street will be available on Android “soon”. There is currently no exact release date, but it will be released on these devices. In fact, the Google Play Store listing has been created, which speaks well of the intentions of the Russian studio.
Similarly, there is another detail to consider: CarX Street will also be available on PC. The game’s listing has also been created on Steam. Its release date is simply “soon”, but it’s great to know that this video game will also be available on compatible devices. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up having synchronization with what happens on mobile devices as it’s usually common.
How to play CarX Street
As you have been able to read, CarX Street is a racing video game, meaning speed is the predominant note. The controls for CarX Street appear on the screen, with buttons to accelerate, brake and use nitro. “And how is it controlled?”, well here is the key: with the smartphone’s gyroscope. Our device is in charge of making the car go left and right. The writer is not a special fan of this movement system to control a car but in CarX Street it is very well implemented.
The first thing that CarX Street offers us is a small tutorial to familiarize ourselves with the controls. Once we finish, we will have to choose a car from three available options: an HC6, an NX5 and a DTS. It should be noted that these models may change in the future as the game is constantly being updated.
Once we select one, the rest is just talking to the first car we meet (Allie) so that she can show us Sunset City. In the purest Need for Speed style, this city will be our playground for driving. We will have everything from our home to make changes to missions spread out on the map. As usual, the idea of the studio is to add content periodically, as while the game is completely free it incorporates microtransactions to generate revenue. If you want to enjoy a better experience, you will have to pay (as usual).
As we were saying before, CarX Street stands out for giving us an open world, but behind the wheel. If you are familiar with the latest Need for Speed, it will all sound familiar to you, as it takes that formula to the palm of your hand. However, we are happy to see how well it has been implemented, with a graphics section that looks sensational on devices and really good performance.
Our advice is that in the game’s options, you turn off those features that can consume the most to improve optimization. We are always in favor of playing well – rather than playing nicely – on mobile devices.
Likewise, do not freak out if you see that it takes you a while to get better cars. This is something completely logical, especially if we consider that the higher states are intended to be obtained through payment. Give yourself time and first of all do the low level races to get money. The rest will follow.
CarX Street has only been released on iOS and is already a true revolution. As soon as it becomes available on Android and PC, we will probably be facing one of the most played video games of 2023. Hit the nitro!
