Charlie Cox assures us that Daredevil won’t be in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, if anyone wants to believe him

At this point in the game we already know that when a Marvel actor says “I won’t be in this movie,” what it really means is “Maybe, maybe not.” However, under orders from Kevin Feige himself they have to keep playing coy, so the audience can keep playing the spoiler game. The latest to do it has been Charlie Cox, Daredevil himself, who after finishing filming the third season of Born Again has said he has nothing to do with Avengers: Secret Wars. If you want to believe him, of course.

The wars are so secret he hasn’t even heard about them

Cox, at least, has a reason for us to believe him: Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which, just as he said, he isn’t in: “I’m so happy not to ever have to answer that question again. Ugh. It’s horrible because I knew I wasn’t in it. The number of times people have asked me ‘Are you in Spider-Man?’. I just knew… That they’d walk away with such sad faces, and that their hearts would break”.

And now, with that in mind, he’s once again said that he won’t be in the sixth Avengers installment: “No, I won’t be in it, no. Sorry. And you can believe me now”. Just like we believed so many, many others over the course of all these years. He may be telling the truth, of course, but… are the Russos really going to be able to resist the urge to see him throw a billy club into Doctor Doom’s face? I don’t think so.

We’ll find out on December 17, 2027, when the sequel to Avengers: Doomsday is released and we finally learn how the Multiverse Saga ends, setting the MCU up for a new beginning packed with mutants and, presumably, led by Spider-Man. Are we sure Daredevil has nothing to do with this (heh, heh)? I don’t think so.
