ChatGPT now has Scheduled Tasks: lightweight automation for paid users

OpenAI has added Scheduled Tasks to ChatGPT for paid users, so you can set prompts to run at specific times or on a recurring schedule. OpenAI says you can create those tasks in plain English for things like a 7 a.m. weekday agenda, evening language practice, news summaries, personalized briefings, study nudges, or routine reminders, and then manage everything from a Scheduled page in the ChatGPT web and mobile apps. If you already pay for ChatGPT and want some light automation without having to learn a separate workflow builder, this is easy to like. Still, OpenAI says active tasks are limited by plan, runs can’t happen more than once per hour, and the feature doesn’t work with custom GPTs, voice chats, file uploads, or project files. Add in missed or delayed runs, repetitive responses, and results that can sometimes be inaccurate or out of date, and it lands more as a beta-style convenience than a true replacement for Zapier, Reclaim.ai, Motion, or SkedPal, especially for anyone thinking about business use cases, regional availability, or compliance rules such as GDPR and newer EU regulations.
