ChatGPT Work: what it is and how OpenAI’s new agent works

After a week of releases, with the arrival of ChatGPT’s new voice mode and the announcement of the release of ChatGPT 5.6, now available, OpenAI has taken another step and introduced ChatGPT Work: a new agent to manage projects and tasks on our devices. A tool that goes beyond quick answers to questions, since it lets us create documents, presentations, spreadsheets and even web apps, using the information we already have in our apps and services.

An agent that works for us autonomously

ChatGPT Work can, if needed, stay active for hours, breaking a large task into small steps and carrying them out independently and progressively. From turning meeting notes into a full report, to generating a marketing brief from a customer study, to analyzing the security of our website, it can adapt to practically any scenario. 

We can connect it to apps like Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive or calendars, which lets it access the context it needs to move projects forward. ChatGPT Work also has its built-in browser to gather information from the web and use online tools just as a human would.

Beyond its work capabilities, task scheduling stands out. We can ask ChatGPT Work to review data dashboards, create reports, update presentations or summarize the activity in our accounts on a recurring basis. Meanwhile, we receive notifications only when something requires our attention.

ChatGPT Work is already available on the web, on mobile, and through desktop apps, and it offers a very interesting way to turn ideas and goals into concrete results within the workflow we already use every day.
