From Boston to the big screen

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 13, 1981, Chris Evans grew up in a family of artists. His mother was a dancer and his father was a dentist, but also a theater lover, where he also dabbled. In fact, it was thanks to the latter that Chris became interested in acting at a very young age.

After graduating from high school, Evans moved to New York to study theater at Lee Strasberg University. It was during her time in college that she began to get roles in television series and independent films, and although it seemed that she got everything for her beauty, she soon began to show that there was much more behind the casing.

Evans’ first big hit came in 2001 with the parody comedy Not Just Another Teen Movie. In this film, Evans played Jake Wyler, the popular and handsome captain of the soccer team. The film was a box office hit and helped launch Evans’ career. At the time, of course, people saw him for what he played in the film, but thanks to the satire of that kind of character he played, he let on to greater potential.

But it was in 2005 when Evans got his first starring role in a big-budget movie: Fantastic Four. This first feature film was his foray into the world of superheroes, and in it Evans played Johnny Storm, the Human Torch. Although the film was not very well received by critics, Evans’ performance was praised for his charisma. He was one of the few to be saved, really.

The real-world Capi

Evans made a second Fantastic Four movie and also appeared in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, in an unforgettable role for the geek public. But he also started appearing in all kinds of movies, such as Street Kings, Push or Losers. He had left his sambenito behind, and despite still being Hollywood‘s pretty boy, it was clear that there was more to him.

It was in 2011 when Chris Evans got the role that would catapult him to success: Steve Rogers / Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first film in the Captain America trilogy, Captain America: The First Avenger, was a huge success and was well received by critics. It may not have been the best Marvel movie, but Evans’ performance as Captain America was considered one of the best in the UCM. He was Cap.

Evans became, along with Robert Downey Jr., the icon of the Marvel Universe. Beyond the Hulk or Thor, everyone admired Cap. With this character he appeared in The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

With each film he appeared in, his fame was increasing. He was increasingly convincing as Captain America, and took the character to very high acting heights. In fact, The Winter Soldier is lauded as one of the best movies of the UCM, and his role in Endgame made everyone remember him for being the head of the Avengers.

But Evans, again, is so much more, and although he spent eight years playing Steve Rogers, he eventually put it aside to focus on other roles. From this point on, he has gone on to make some very interesting films, such as Knives Out (2019), in which Evans played Ransom Drysdale, the arrogant and unpleasant son of a wealthy family.

In 2020, Chris Evans began his relationship with Apple TV+ with the miniseries Defending Jacob. In the fiction, Evans plays a lawyer who must defend his son accused of murder. Undoubtedly, it is one of the roles where the actor has shown the most nuances, and just one more example of what he can do.

With Ghosted, the real-world Capi will prove that he is on par with fashionable actress Ana de Armas, and the two will form a duo whose chemistry will blow Apple TV+ subscribers away.
