But when did the Spider-Verse concept begin, and what comic book is the basis for this exciting film saga that is making such a big splash in the cinema? Below, we will explore the origin of the Spider-Verse and the comic book that inspired it to deliver this multiversal experience.

The comic that started it all

The comic book on which the Spider-Verse plot is based bears the same name and was published by Marvel Comics in 2014. Written by Dan Slott and drawn by several talented artists, Spider-Verse brought together numerous characters from different realities of the Spider-Man multiverse in an epic battle against the enemies known as the Inheritors.

The plot begins when Morlun, a villain known as the Totem Eater, and his family, the Inheritors, emerge from their dimension to hunt down Spider-Man from different realities and consume their life essence, known as “the Inheritance”. Their goal is to eradicate all carriers of Spider-power throughout the multiverse.

Faced with this threat, the original Spider-Man, Peter Parker, gathers other Spider-Man from different realities, including Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Man 2099 and many more. Together, they form an alliance to take on the Inheritors and save their own lives, as well as the very existence of the multiverse.

As the story progresses, the various Spider-Men explore different realities and encounter their alternate counterparts. Each has his own unique style and personality, which creates an interesting and exciting dynamic between the characters.

During their quest, the heroes discover the existence of the Totems, cosmic entities that represent the Spider-Power in every reality. The Totems play a crucial role in the battle against the Inheritors, and Spider-Man must protect them to preserve the existence of the multiverse.

The plot of the Spider-Verset comic unfolds over a series of issues and crossovers with other related series, such as The Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Verse Team-Up. Throughout the story, the relationships between the different Spider-Men, their personal challenges and their determination to protect the innocent and preserve Spider-Man’s legacy are explored.

The final battle between Spider-Man and the Inheritors is an epic and emotional confrontation that puts the fate of the multiverse at stake. The heroes must overcome their differences, harness their unique abilities and join forces to face their formidable foes.

Ultimately, Spider-Verse is a story that celebrates the rich history and diversity of Spider-Man in all his forms. It explores the concept of a multiverse filled with different versions of Spider-Man and demonstrates that no matter what universe they come from, they all share a sense of responsibility and heroism.
