Control Resonant gets a new story recap: Jesse Faden before launch

Remedy Entertainment has released a new Control Resonant story recap focused on Jesse Faden ahead of the sequel’s September 24, 2026 launch. It’s meant to get players caught up on the first Control before Control Resonant arrives, Remedy says.

The recap goes back through Jesse entering the Oldest House to find Dylan Faden, discovering the Federal Bureau of Control in chaos during the Hiss invasion, becoming the new Director, and gaining supernatural powers along the way. It also makes clear that this isn’t just optional backstory sitting off to the side, because Control Resonant leans on those events more directly than a typical sequel would.

It also tees up the shift to Dylan Faden. At the end of the first game, he was corrupted and left in a coma. Now that turns into a role-reversed setup, with Dylan waking up and heading into a paranaturally distorted Manhattan to search for a missing Jesse Faden.

If you’re planning to play Control Resonant, this is a recap you’ll probably want to watch, especially since Remedy says the game moves toward an open-ended Manhattan action RPG with non-linear missions and more close-quarters melee than the original’s shooter-driven third-person action. Even with that change, the focus stays on Jesse Faden’s role and Dylan Faden’s powers.

You can watch the recap now, and Control Resonant launches on September 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, according to Remedy.
