Pearl Abyss says Crimson Desert is now in active development for Nintendo Switch 2. According to the studio, the project is already far enough along that “basic gameplay is possible,” which tells you this has moved past the early wish-list stage. Even so, Pearl Abyss says there’s still a lot of optimization and technical testing ahead before the Switch 2 version can line up with the visual quality, combat feel, and open-world scale the game offers on other platforms.
That tracks. Crimson Desert runs on Pearl Abyss’s BlackSpace Engine and leans hard on big environments , heavy detail, and flashy real-time combat, so getting all of that onto Nintendo’s next system was never going to be simple. Reports say the Nintendo Switch 2 uses a custom Nvidia T239 chip, 12GB of RAM, and DLSS, but you should still go in expecting some visual or performance trade-offs compared with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and high-end PC hardware.
If you’ve been holding out for a Nintendo version, this is one to keep an eye on. Pearl Abyss launched the game in March 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and says it sold 2 million copies on day one, then reached 6 million in 83 days.
For now, Crimson Desert is already out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The Nintendo Switch 2 version still doesn’t have a release date.
