Crimson Desert receives a patch to get rid of all AI-generated content

Pearl Abyss has released a new patch for Crimson Desert, addressing a number of issues reported by the community, focusing on improving game controls, loading times, and replacing assets generated by artificial intelligence (AI).This patch has been necessary following the controversy generated by the inclusion of certain paintings in the game that displayed clear characteristics of AI-generated art, which led the developer to publicly apologize and commit to auditing all game assets to prevent similar incidents in the future.

A mistake that should not have happened

Players reported that some of the paintings in the vast world of Crimson Desert looked questionable. Among them, one in particular stood out that combined humans and horses in an almost grotesque manner. In response to the negative reaction, Pearl Abyss has promised to replace these assets with artwork created by humans, seeking to better align the visual pieces with the artistic direction of the game. The patch notes 1.01.00 indicate that “selected 2D visual assets” have been replaced as part of ongoing visual improvements.

Additionally, the patch has introduced significant improvements to the gaming experience, including new mounts, a decrease in loading times for fast travel, and enhancements in the movement speed of both the player character and the mounts. The changes have resulted in a smoother gameplay experience with art that is now more coherent and appealing, as players have noted a remarkable improvement in the quality of the artistic pieces.
