Crimson Desert update hints at nautical DLC: new sea clues emerge

Pearl Abyss’s latest Crimson Desert update has cleaned up the shorelines and sharpened the look of a distant island, and players are already reading that as a possible hint at a sea-focused DLC expansion.

A lot of the speculation comes from the coastal rework, reports of new underwater plant life such as blue seaweed, and a submerged island off the eastern side of the map. Put that together, and some players think Pearl Abyss may be laying the groundwork for sailing, underwater exploration, or other maritime systems. Then again, this is the kind of game where even minor map changes can set off a whole wave of rumors, so it could still just be visual polish.

There are also unverified player reports saying Crimson Desert’s files include references to underwater movement animations and ship controls. If that turns out to be true, it would be the strongest sign so far that ocean-based mechanics are on the way. Still, take that carefully. File references don’t always turn into finished features.

What Pearl Abyss has actually confirmed is a major DLC planned for 2026, with more information expected in Q3 2026. The company’s PR and marketing lead has also said it’ll feel genuinely different from the base game in scope, scale, and size.

If you keep up with Crimson Desert, this is an update to keep an eye on, especially since Pearl Abyss says the game has sold more than six million copies. On top of that, separate updates scheduled from June through September 2026 are also supposed to bring story pacing improvements, new combat content, and cross-platform save support.

You can download the latest Crimson Desert update through the game’s usual platforms.
