Over time and with usage, we can save numerous playlists on Apple Music. With iOS 17.1, we can go beyond mosaic images for playlists. Now, Apple provides us with truly elegant and customizable cover options tailored to our tastes and preferences. Let’s see how to use them.
More design options for our playlists
In previous versions of iOS, playlists could appear somewhat generic and hard to distinguish, as they were based on the four covers of the first songs in the list. Now, in iOS 17.1, Apple has introduced eight different cover styles, ranging from geometric shapes to gradients, with the playlist title in the top left corner.
The colors used in the cover are selected from the album cover of the first song in the playlist in question. Thus, while all playlists enjoy uniformity, they are all different and have a coherent and attractive aesthetic.
Changing the cover of any of our playlists is as easy as following these steps:
- Open the Music app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to the Library tab.
- Tap on Playlists.
- Enter the playlist you want to modify.
- Tap the button shaped like three dots.
- Select Edit.
- At the top, swipe right and left to choose the design you prefer.
- Tap OK.
The option to choose our own image is still available. Additionally, consider trying to temporarily reorder the list so that the first song gives us the tone we are looking for. This is a resource to more easily distinguish playlists with similar tones.
It’s clear that we have always been able to create our custom album covers by simply using a photo editing application or even a specialized website for it. However, being able to do it directly from our iPhone or iPad is really convenient. It’s a small detail that we will surely appreciate.
