CyanogenMod Installer for OS X is now available as a beta, making it easy to install the alternative Android operating system on your device.
The installer for OS X follows the release of the Windows version last November. To install CyanogenMod on an Android device, all you have to do is open the CyanogenMod Installer, connect your device and click Start. There’s a huge list of supported devices, although the Mac installer currently supports less than its Windows counterpart. You can check if your device is supported on the CyanogenMod wiki.
If you want to try CyanogenMod, it’s important you back up your data as installing it will wipe your device. Installing CyanogenMod gives your device different features, such as ‘native theming’, FLAC audio support and managing app permissions.
CyanogenMod is perhaps the most popular alternative Android fork, and claims over 10 million users.
