Daniel Radcliffe’s dark horror movie is now streaming free: HBO’s Harry Potter reboot just hit 277 million views

HBO has dropped the first trailer for its Harry Potter reboot, and the response was huge: 277 million organic views in its first 48 hours.

The HBO series retells all seven novels and arrives with the usual scrutiny around J.K. Rowling’s marketing. Even so, it’s now confirmed Paapa Essiedu as Snape, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and John Lithgow as Dumbledore, along with Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout as Harry, Hermione, and Ron.

If you’re revisiting the franchise and want to check out one of Daniel Radcliffe’s post-Hogwarts roles, Horns is worth a look. Alexandre Aja’s 2013 film, which got a wider release in 2014 and adapts Joe Hill’s 2010 novel, casts Radcliffe as Ig Perrish, a man accused of raping and murdering Merrin Williams. Then the horns show up, people start confessing their darkest secrets, and the movie slides into a mix of murder mystery, horror fantasy, and grief drama.

Reviews were mixed. Horns sits at 41% on Rotten Tomatoes and 46 on Metacritic, though Radcliffe’s performance got praise, and its $3.9 million worldwide haul turned it into more of a cult favorite than a hit.

You can stream Horns free with ads in the US on Tubi, Freevee, Plex, Pluto TV, and The Roku Channel; if you know Daniel Radcliffe mostly from Harry Potter, you may also have seen him in Miracle Workers, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and Broadway’s Tony-winning Merrily We Roll Along.
