After several years without releasing new episodes, Netflix is once again putting its trust in one of its flagship series: Black Mirror. The platform managed to turn this anthology created by Charlie Brooker into one of its biggest symbols, thanks to three original seasons that were added to the existing two. They also experimented with the series through innovative episodes like Bandersnatch.
However, there had been no news about the series since 2019, until the trailer for the sixth season was released, and the hype skyrocketed. The new season will feature some big Hollywood stars, including Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Kate Mara (House of Cards), Michael Cera (Barbie), Salma Hayek (Eternals), Zazie Beetz (Joker), Josh Hartnett (Penny Dreadful), and Rory Culkin (Scream 4). But when will it premiere?
Black Mirror season 6 premiere date
The sixth season of Black Mirror will premiere on June 15th. Thus, starting this weekend, all episodes of this new anthology will be available. We’ll see if it lives up to the standards of previous seasons, which were somewhat weaker compared to the earlier ones, or if some of its episodes manage to rank among the top.
As for what will happen in these episodes, we have very few clues. However, Charlie Brooker, the creator of the series and the one behind the scripts, has made it clear that it will be “the most unpredictable, unclassifiable, and unexpected” season yet. Although it will be challenging to achieve after such outstanding episodes like “Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too,” “San Junipero,” or “Hang the DJ,” it is definitely an interesting challenge. Brooker explains:
“I have always felt that Black Mirror should present stories that are completely different from one another and continue to surprise people (including myself), or else, what’s the point? It should be a series that cannot be easily defined and that can continue to reinvent itself.”
