Leaving the Banoi island locale of Dead Island for the sunny landscape of California is a great change. As opposed to fighting your way through zombies on some unrecognizable tropical island, the sequel plants you in the quarantined state complete with sunny skies and urban landscapes.
Deep Silver and Yager released gameplay showing pre-alpha footage of the game in motion. It looks a lot better than Dead Island and the trailer sets up a different tone than the first game, but with the release scheduled for Spring 2015, who knows how that could change.
One feature that sounds interesting is the eight player multiplayer option that could be pretty incredible with the right team.
Dead Island 2 will release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in Spring 2015.
