Destiny could soon have a spin-off, but not what you might expect

Destiny is one of the most important online shooters of all time. Not only has it turned Bungie into a respected and beloved company by the entire gaming community, but it has also managed to become a franchise of its own. Even though it only has two games, the spirit of the franchise spirit is always present—especially now that rumors are circulating that there may be more Destiny on the horizon.

According to insider Kurakasis, a new title in the Destiny franchise is being developed. Named Destiny Rising, it would be a collaboration between NetEase and Bungie and, most importantly, it would be a mobile spinoff. This is a territory that has been untouched by Bungie so far, but is well known to NetEase.

This rumor is preceded by some news that makes us cautious. During the last few months, there have been several rounds of massive layoffs at Bungie, a complete restructuring, and several serious scandals. Therefore, the studio’s ability right now to take on another project in addition to the ones it already has is questionable. Although, being in collaboration with another studio more experienced in this type of game, it is not completely ruled out.

Although it is still to be confirmed, Destiny Rising would be great news for the world of mobile video games. Bungie is a specialist in shooters, and NetEase has shown time and time again that they know how to exploit that market, so it could be a potential great marriage. We will have to keep an eye on this Rising, to see what it ends up being.
