Digimon is a franchise that, while it had an incredible surge in the early 2000s, has over the years lost some of its popularity and faded into memory. While some video games continued to perform well, in terms of series, it began to wane, and slowly it stopped coming to the West. However, in recent years, things have changed.

Relying on nostalgia and knowing that the kids who watched Digimon are now adults, they started releasing products that directly targeted that nostalgia. This was the case with the series Digimon Adventure Tri and the emotional movie Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. But the second part of Digimon was just as beloved as the first, and it will also have its own movie: Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.

When will Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning be released?

Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning tells the story of how the second chosen children return with their Digimon to embark on an epic adventure on par with Last Evolution Kizuna. The movie will premiere in Japan very soon, but when will it arrive in Spain and the rest of the countries?

Thankfully, we now have a date. Selecta Visión has licensed the film in our country, and it will be released in theaters on December 1, 2023. This means we’ll only have to wait a couple of months from its premiere in Japan to its arrival in Europe. This is quite unusual, especially considering that we’ve been waiting much longer for the latest Hayao Miyazaki film with Studio Ghibli.

Tomohisa Taguchi and Akatsuki Yamatoya are returning as the director and screenwriter, respectively, following their work on Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. Thus, we can expect the same elements that we saw in that film: lots of nostalgia, emotion, adventure, and epic action-packed battles. We’ll have to wait and see if it lives up to the promise.
